I personally have not, but a friend on mine had a little mishap with his brothers car:icon_mrgr Here goes:
The car:
1993 Mustang
complete body restoration (beautiful car)
25.5 chassis cert
418 cui
7721 Victor heads (380+ CFM)
Made 800hp N/A
Glide
basically a brand new race car
he (the owner) ran the car last year and was a sissy about it, only turning the thing up to 5500 rpm (peaked power @ 8300RPM, should have shifted at 8500, not 5500). It went 10.60 and that was it for the season.
The accident:
So, this year he decides to let his brother take it down, you know just to see what its like in a race car....(dumb). He launched the car by foot breaking it so it didn't come out very hard at all. So now he's got the throttle to the floor, and the car is moving around a bit in his lane..do you think he let off? Um, no. He started moving toward the center of the track just before the 1/8 mile cone, then decided to LOOK DOWN to shift (Why, its a friggen' 2 speed glide). So, now he's looking down to shift and as the gear change is being completed, decides oh shit i'm heading into the other lane and CRANKS THE WHEEL to the right (not a subtle correction).....Not good...could have just done the intelligent thing and got out of it...but noooooo. He hits the wall of the right lane head on, the car then spins and hits the ass end and side of the car. I think the only good part left on the car was the passenger door. Talk about a dumbass mistake. I think one of the track guys at Milan told him "you shouldn't even be allowed to drive an Escort". Talk about messing up some elses shit. Brother or not, I would have beat his ass, but amazingly he remained quite calm. By the way, I don't think he had ever driven a race before, much less a 2900 lb car with 800hp!!! DUMB.
