Official 2010 Michigan State Football thread

The last game of a great year. A shot at a school record for wins in a season and a possible Rose Bowl or BCS game. But MSU has started out games very sloppy since the UM game. To many mistakes and breakdowns. This while Penn State has stepped up their game and that MSU hasn't won in HAppy Valley since 1965 (the year before Jo Pa bacame coach. This game should be very close. MSU 24, Penn State 23.

I don't think Northwestern will be any help. MSU's only hope for a BCS game is boredom with OSU and a bowl taking MSU over OSU. I'm not exactly holding out hope for this. I'll have to see about tickets for the Cap One Bowl here in Orlando.

This has been a great year. At 11-1, Michigan State has set a school record for victories in a season. Should be an interesting game against Alabama. Dantonio has what only a few coaches (Perles, Saban) have had the last 40 years. A real program. While I don't think they'll be 11-1 next year, they should still be competitive with numerous sophmores and juniors starting in place of all the seniors. Those seniors also set a record for most victories by a class at 32.

congrats to the spartans!!...i was thinking they might get beat at psu, but they were up to the task. way to represent......

With losses by BSU, LSU and Okey St, I think Stanford will be #4, Wisconsin #5, OSU #6 and MSU #7. And no, I'm not delusional to think MSU will pass OSU.

1) Oregon
2) Auburn
3) TCU
4) Wisconsin
5) Stanford
6) Ohio State
7) Michigan State

The is the same in both the AP and Coaches Polls.

Mike Valenti thinks the OSU will actually pass Wisconsin in the BCS poll tonight. While that would be great, it's not expected.

Sparty better pray one of the top teams lose or else its no BCS for Green!

Actually, the Big Ten season is over. More likely than not, MSU is on the outside looking in and playing in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando. Wisconsin is going to the Rose Bowl with the automatic bid. The only way MSU goes to a BCS bid is if a bowl bypasses OSU. This has only happened once (2008) when the Orange Bowl took a lower ranked Kansas instead of a higher ranked Missouri. Not saying it can't happen, but it's doubtful. Now I need to see about tickets in Orlando.

Doesn't matter, only 2 big ten teams can go to BCS bowls, and the BCS standings determines that. MSU can't leap either Wis or OSU, and OSU most certainly won't be passed up at bowl selection time. Too bad, so sad for MSU. Enjoy the crappiest 1/3 of the big ten title possible.

MSU finally got their first 11 win season in school history. Next year they won't be so lucky with their schedule lol.

No such thing as a crappy Championship. I've never said UM's 1/2 Championship in '97 was bad or crappy. The system is what it is. I'm not complaining. As the saying goes, we're just happy to be here.

As for next year, the schedule isn't as big a problem as experience. They'll lose approximately 17/18 players to graduation and most contributed. No replacing Greg Jones and Eric Gordon at linebacker. The 'preseason' schedule is easy and Indiana comes back on the schedule along with Ohio State. I still think they'll be 8-4 or 9-3. I just hope they get Andrew Maxwell a lot more experience as a back up than he got this year. He'll be the QB in 2012. And yes, I'll like the game against Alabama. But I'd rather be in the Fiesta Bowl beating the hell out of UConn.

Don't be bitter because the Wolverines could barely handle a division 1 high school
