Official 2010 Michigan State Football thread

wow Pat Forde is calling for MSU,oregon, auburn and Mizzou to lose this week
That would leave

Boise State, TCU and Utah as the only unbeaten teams

Yeah, just like a bunch of people called for MSU to lose to the "upset kings" @ Northwestern....

Forde is a huge huge Boise leg humper funny part is even if that happens a one loss alabama or Oregon would still get a NC bid over boise

I was about to say, this is just Forde's wishful thinking. Every week he talks about his Boise bus. He frequently does things for the sake of funny, like this prediction
Texas at Nebraska (28), Oct. 16.

Why it's big: Cornhuskers should be undefeated heading into what could be their only game of the regular season against a ranked opponent -- unless Texas keeps losing and drops out of the Top 25, rendering Nebraska's long-awaited Game of the Year a huge anticlimax.

Why it's interesting: See the aforementioned Game of the Year mention. And see the original Red Out Around the World video and logo from the summer. And see the way the 2009 Big 12 championship game ended. Nebraskans like to maintain that they're much too polite to be out for blood -- but rest assured, they're out for blood.

Who will win: Texas, 13-12.

For anyone unfamiliar, that was the result of last year's Big 12 Championship.

I'm getting a lot of 'the eye' from all the Mizzou fans around here whenever I wear my State stuff around.

My response?

I was a outside Mizzou fan when I lived in St. Louis, as I didn't get to see MSU as much. Of course if Mizzou played MSU, MSU all the way. I almost moved to Columbia, SC in '86 and checked out USC while I interviewed. Still like USC as an outsider to the SEC.

A little story about my USC tour. It was in the spring, and there where a bunch of us yankees on the tour. Our guide stopped in front of the basketball area and pointed out Williams-Brice Stadium down the street. Being from the north, someone had to ask this question, and as no one else did...

"So, would there happen to be an ice rink around here?" The girl turned around with a big smile and stated, "We all don't play hockey down here..."

This got a little chuckle, and a few pouts. No I think there is actually an independent league team playing out of the basketball arena.

Chris Rucker... out of jail and right back on the team. There goes ANY respect that I had for Dantonio and the 2010 Spartans

Head coach Mark Dantonio said this afternoon that Rucker's served his time, and now it's time to move on with him as a member of the football program.

"The poor decision he made had need for serious consequences which he has now met and resolved from a team and legal perspective," the coach said. "It does not, however, rise to a lifetime banishment. ...

"Losing a game hurts. Removing a young man like Chris from the team is unacceptable."

Says all there is to say right there. Winning games is more important than the character of your team.

I will say I think Rucker should have been suspended for this game as well as the two he's already missed. I don't think anyone was expecting him to be kicked off the team. But the punishment is a bit light.

If karma kicks in then MSU will lose once Rucker steps on the field. You suck Dantonio!!! Grow some balls and stop reinstating 3 time law breakers because they are athletes!!!!!
Now I'll root AGAINST you and your criminal team and coaching staff!!!

Dantonio made the right call, hes was tried by a court of law and served his time, lets be honest its not like these kids there for an education, if he was kicked off the team he would loose his $$$$ and not be able to finish school, or at least his junior year and be ready for the draft, These kids are going to be doctors

I agree - the kid served his jail time, and I guarantee there is more... a DUI means he probably has a restricted license, more probation requirements, and fines out the ass.

If any of you that are complaining got a DUI I would hope your employer fires you over it - because that's essentially what you all are asking for. It's not like he committed a felony. It was a misdemeanor.

There are quite a few people who lose their jobs because of DUI's. If you drive a company vehicle and cannot be insured because of the DUI then you lose your job. I'm sure there would be other reasons, like if you are in the drunk tank and cant show up to work. It definetly happens. and if you dont want to get a DUI, the DONT DRINK AND DRIVE.. SIMPLE AS THAT!! No way should this kid be back on the playing field. If this was a first offense, I would say he more than paid his dues with the jail time, and 2 game suspension, but this isnt the first time he has been in trouble with the law. He's a senior on the team and should be a leader, and lead by example.

I'm a wolverine fan, but I do feel bad for sparty fans seeing how this is completely overshadowing the fact that they are playing good football and are number 5 in the country. Too bad D'antonio is all about winning and could careless about his or his school's image. Good luck against Iowa tomorrow.

"Michigan State University, the only place you can wear a jumpsuit and a jersey in the same day..."

he wasnt convicted of DWI it was reckless driving, if you guys have a problem you need to vote the judge who approved the lowering of the charge

#1. Michigan fired Gary Moeller for getting drunk at a restaurant.

#2. When you are a part of the team, you represent the school on a national level. It's all about perception.

#3. But, I guess that's OK by you logic... it's not a felony, so it's no big deal? Your words, not mine.

#4. Let's not forget, this was his second "not a felony" in about a 1 year span. How many times do you have to embarass your school before they kick you off the team? I guess it depends on how good you are as a player?

It's no different than the NFL taking a stand on Plaxico Burress, Ben Roethlesburger, Pacman Jones, etc. You are a public representative of your employer and/or school. Ben wasn't even charged, and he faced more discipline than Rucker after TWO CONVICTIONS.

it wasnt a DWI it was reckless driving, the court allowed the plea deal,

Lots of people are given second and third chances Michael Vic, Bill Clinton,

1. Regarding the DWI... it doesn't matter to me and it shouldn't matter to MSU/Dantonio what he was "convicted of" through his plea deal. EVERYBODY knows what he did this time. EVERYBODY knows what he did last time. Regardless of what his "record" says, he's a guy who donned a skimask and marauded around campus beating people up. And they gave him a second chance, so he went out and got caught drinking and driving. Arguing about whether it is DWI or Reckless is just stupid semantics.

2. Some people deserve second chances, some don't. But very few deserve third and fourth chances. Even if it meant a guaranteed trip to the SuperBowl, I wouldn't want Michael Vick as my quarterback.
