Notchrocket's '96 GT progress

Someone woke up - hope you took it off Craigslist - I thought "Oh no someone lost interest " when I saw the for sale ad - back on track now ?

Yeah, I get depressed during the winter months  hahaha

My mind changes from one minute to the next.....but I WILL be finishing this car, just needed some motivation.

If you going to have a block machined buy my stock cobra motor and do it right instead of doing another down the road. Beter yet buy a brand new block for 300 bucks get it bored to a std and all give you a killer deal on some je pistons brand new in the box there a dish for a blower.

Just curious... What is wrong with iron block? I know the aluminum block is a lot lighter but the iron is stronger and you can do a 60 overbore. Is there anything else?

The teksid block is stronger from what iv been told atleast good enough for 1000 horse if your making more then that iam sure your going to break something sooner or later anyways so you cant be mad.

This car is being built on a shoe string budget.

Nice to see you working on the old girl. She deserves a new life and to be beat like an 8 mile hooker :D

I remember reading an article on a new 2v intake from trickflow not too long ago made 15 horse on a stock motor with a cold air

looks good, what did you end up picking this up for ? I was trying to convince the better half it would be a good purchase back when matt had it up

Yeah but if your doing machine work that going to cost some cash buy a new block it dosnt need as much as your block so it would probally cost the same and if your going to spray it why not get some good pistons

Update:
Well, Cito hooked me up with a Mark8 motor for dirt cheap, and I've got it all tore down ready for machining.
I think I'm still going to stay 2v for now, but at least I'll save some weight using the Teksid block.
In the future when I have more money I would like to do something similar to an 03/04 setup

Total cost so far:
Car - $2500
P.I. heads/intake - $100
Mark8 motor - $50

However, I have many parts to either sell or scrap, which will offset the cost a little.

the B heads on the mark8 motor still flow better than the PI's do if im not mistaken....

just dont want to see you make a step back.. that is, if you got the heads with the mark8 motor..

the mark 8 and 96-98 cobra heads are the same only 1 of the cams s different and its specs are to close to make a difference.

Yeah, I did get heads w/ the motor, but I have heard that B heads suck unless a blower is added............ besides, you can make good power with a 2v

yes, B heads arent the greatest NA, but the WORST 4v Heads are better than ANY Ported Full Blown Race 2v Heads!

You Can make your desired power levels with the B-heads, and if you ever decide to go FI for more HP you will have that luxary with the 4v Heads!
