Not visible...the hole in the front
At least I can kinda laugh about it now. Certainly wasn't funny when it happened. Car is at the shop now...should be fixed in a week or two (takes a while for the engine to come in).
Can't they overnight parts from Japan?
it wasnt warrantiable? what was the cause? No rice...just lots of oil. Actually, I had to take all the aftermarket parts off the car in order to sell them...need to fund the engine replacement somehow. Oh well...
Well, if I could get it taken care of by warranty that's one thing...but the car is at the shop, in pieces, and an engine has been ordered. I'm not in a position where I can say "ok, stop...let me take it somewhere else". Now, if the bill can be covered by warranty after the fact, that's another story...I'd be all for that
if the tune caused this sounds like the tune was crap.
I beat on my car waaaaaaaaaay harder than you do and it never cracked a freaking block.
Ya but you dont have a power adder. A ton more cylinder pressure with a power adder. Break piston-piston peice stands up in chamber-rod breaks-block breaks. At least thats what happened to me.hwell:
Not sure on the cause. My guess...it was leaned out from driving on the expressway for so long (the tune adjusts itself to your driving to maximize economy...I was getting an average of 38mpg at this point after ~800 miles of driving on the expressway). I got on it in a tunnel...slowed down by traffic and was passing someone and it went boom. Called about the warranty thinking it might be covered, but they said that it wasn't because I couldn't prove that it had regular maintenance (I do all my own oil changes and never thought to keep records of it). Plus all the aftermarket stuff would have raised a flag anyway...even if I took everything back to stock it would have been aparent that I was tinkering in the engine bay, and they would have flagged that and denied my claim.
There is NO WAY in hell they can void your warranty for not showing regular maintenance, like oil changes.
