You don't win races doing things the easy way. That piece was matched to the intakes inlet port dimensions so it would be a close match. Why would it be cheaper to buy that piece? The only out of pocket expensive I have is the cost of aluminum.

wouldnt it have been easier and cheaper to just buy that piece on the intake?

Plus you get a sense of pride in the work... Nice job.. I would love having a Bridgeport at home.

Does it lose any performance or ever go out of phase at all?
He's the one to ask I just know he uses a phase converter cuz I'm the bitch that has to plug it in...haha.

The rotary phase converters seems to emulate the 3rd phase pretty well. The only problem I've had was running two 3 phase machines on the same converter. The static phase converters are just a bandaid because they will net a 33% loss from 3 phase because your still running on 2 phase with a missing 120 degree leg. All those things do is jump start the motor with some capacitor circuitry.

agreed, I have a line on a free bridgeport(a widow friend of mine, was her husbands, she said I can have it if I come and get it), hopefully there is a rotory convertor there as well

You won't find many of them though :)

Dave89, hopefully it has a rotary phase converter because they aren't cheap.

Some Bridgeports had single phase motors.
