New Personal Best!

So were both passes at 24lbs? That is sweet! Glad you finialy got it rocken. It is fun to get somthing back from all the blood , sweat and tears...

Yep. Both passes were on the same boost. The difference in the second pass was that I actually stayed on the transbrake until I hit the two-step, which allowed me to leave the line with about 8#s of boost. On the first run I didn't stay on the brake long enough and left with only about 3#s of boost.

We know this turbo will make more power. In fact, it looks like it wants to go to at least 28lbs, and maybe even a tad more. We'll see. I would love to see an 8.9x pass before the season is over, and with such an encouraging first outing, I think it may be possible. I'm going to chase it until the snow is flying:seizure:

Sweet I hope you get there!!

Big Thanks Again to C.A.R.S. Automotive!

Big thanks to Sean and Greg at C.A.R.S. Automotive in Waterford. Last night went up to the shop and we solved the boost-building problem... Now the car will easily make 15lbs once on the transbrake. I'm looking forward to getting it back to the track.

A couple of thoughts...

1. If you have a mustang and you are thinking about going with a stand-alone computer on your car like FAST, Big Stuff, etc... I want to encourage you to seriously take a look at the AEM box. At first I found the box to be complicated, but the more familiar I become with it, the more I'm liking it.

The car drives like a stocker around town (thanks to Sean's great tune), but it also has so many really cool functions that a number of the other standalones don't have.

For example, the AEM box has two built-in two-steps. What Sean and Greg did last night was put one of the two-steps on the footbrake so that I can build a little boost there, then grab the transbrake and now the boost will easily build up to 15lbs and more. What a great device.

2. The other thing about the AEM box, especially if you have a Foxbody car like mine, is that you can just plug the computer right into your existing wiring harness. You really can't beat this for simplicity. Compared to the rewiring you must do in order to install a FAST box, there is really no comparison, especially with all the extra features that AEM has compared to many of the others. More and more people are discovering that this box is much improved over the early versions of it that had a lot of problems, and I think, hurt the box's reputation. Now though, it seems that they have worked out the kinks and I, for one, am really growing to like it.

Anyway, will be getting back to the track soon to get a low-9 pass:slomo:

You know I love you, Mike! Wish you were there, man. We need to see what we can do about getting the converter just a tad looser on the bottom end.

Then you'll get some love:seizure:

Wow, it's going to be like a balistic missle coming out of the hole.. It better be a high 8 pass!!!!!

Dan, thats sweet! Now with some boost out of the hole you should be good to go, as long as the track holds the power

damn!!! thats badass!! congrats and let us know as soon as you get down the track again

Thanks Dave. I let you guys know...

Do i finally get the love now??? {lol}

Of course you get some love. With the boost improvement out of the hole, this converter is gonna love it. Great piece you built for me, Mike!

Awesome car! Congrats on the new time. Im sure you'll hit 8's.

Thanks man. If I can get even an 8.99 I would be thrilled, especially since the car has a power-robbing AOD in it. I'm really curious to know how many guys have gone into the 8s with an AOD trans that still actually has a working overdrive gear in it?

We'll see for sure in the next couple of weeks, Leo. I'll let you know how it goes.
