new guy , new mustang

WHo cares where the clip went. It would have fallen into the front sump and it will just live in the botom and hurt nothing. Just be careful dropping the rod back into teh pump. Use a magnetic 1/4 drive deepwell socket if you can get one, it makes it easier. But can be done easily other way. Where are you in dearborn Heights? I'm not far from the 50's mc donalds.

aswome , thanks man , i live right by the rams horn off telegraph , im picking up a dizzy tomorrow and im buyin a new oil pump rod , hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow , i do not have a magnetic 1/4 drive deepwell socket thow , my tool choice is limited seeing how i dont have a garadge

awsome thanks man , im right off telegraph by the rams horn , im getting a new dizzy and oil pump rod tomorrow but i dont have a magnetic 1/4 deepwell socket , i would deffinatly use one of those lol , my tools are limited thow due to not having a garadge , ive got tomorrow and thursday off work thow so i hope this damn car will be on the road

got a new dizzy and new oil pump rod , got the rod in there without dropping it into the motor , i cant get the dizzy to seat in all the way thow , i got the motor at 0* and no matter what i do i cant get it to drop in , i can get it to seat in about 1/8th of an inch then it just stops and will not drop any more no matter what i do , it still needs to drop about 1 inch or so before it seats in all the way , any ideas ?

TUrn Motor Over while lightly pushing down. It's a simple as the hex's on teh shaft/dizzy not being line up. Or a light up and dwn motion till it goes down.

got the dizzy in , still doing the same exact thing it was doing before , whats weird is when the ballancer said 0* i set the dizzy in and ligned everything up and it wouldnt fire at all , it popped and farted but no matter ware i set the dizzy it wouldnt fire , so i stuck my finger over the #1 cyl and had my girlfriend crank it till it blew my finger off and then stuck a screw driver in the cyl and turned it by hand ( like a hair ) till it was all the way to the top , then dropped the dizzy back in and it fired right up ( still runs like shit ) and whats weird is the timing marks are like 180*s off from the timing window ......... any ideas ?

dizzy was 1 tooth off , car runs way way better now , timing needs to be set still but i got it in the right ballpark , car wont do a burnout from a dead stop ( it will if you break tq it ) but not on its own , car doesnt miss now but it does fall on its face when i stomp on it ..... timing supose to be 12-14* btdc ?

ive been messing with the timing for the past 2-3 hours and havent had any luck , it runs decent but the second i stab the gas ( while under a load ) it bogs and sputters , it idles great right around 7-8hundred rpm , for what ever reason my oil pressure guage only work with the motor reved to 1k or higher ,., im going to try the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 fire order tomorrow and see what happens , any other ideas anyone ?

have not checked the fuel pressure , i dont have a fuel pressure gauge to check it with and dont even know ware the schrader valve is on this damn car lol , im going to clean the maf and do the old fire order and see what happens and then ill check into other things

im going to clean the maf here in a little bit and see if that does anything then swap the fire order , then if that dont work i need to get the timing set with a light and then check the fuel pressure .,. thanks for the offer billdroveit , ill let you know

well i cleaned the maf and drove it around a little , feels like a diffrent car now , it drove weird for a few miles ( almost like the computer was re learning or something ) i can floor it from a dead stop now and it doesnt break up or mis any more , and i can floor it while moving and she gets up and goes , only thing i need to do is get it timed now and put new plugs in it

dam i was gonna pick up this car but you beat me 2 it!

i beat about 30 other people to it also lol , i was so quick to buy it because i knew it was something stupid wrong with it ( dizzy 1 tooth off and a dirty ass maf sensor that had mud and pine needles in it ) it looks like the filter fell off at one point and time and the guy ran it without a filter , all and all the car is pretty damn solid

Glad you got it figured out. What's it look like so i know if it's you tearing up my streets...

lol , its a 95 gt with 99 gt wheels , black with the clear coat pealing all over , ive been messing with the timing still all day but cant get it 100% , i need someone to time it for me but cant find anyone to do it , after its timed all i should need to do then is fuel filter , plugs/wires and a oil change , maybe even do a msd coil or something .,. anyone care to time my motor ? ill buy you a 6pack of your favorite beer or toss you a few bucks ( wich ever you perfer ) , 12-14* btdc is all i want lol

i messed with it a little more today before i went to work , turns out i was still 1 tooth off on the dizzy , i lined up the 2 score marks ( the notch on the dizzy and the notch on the block ) and it fired right up and ran great , i turned the dizzy about 2-3mm counter clockwise after the score and it still runs great ( takes a min to get started , almost like the battery is dead then it just cranks and fires up ) , counter clockwise is retard and clockwise is advance ? , i got a noise now that sounds like valve chatter im hoping a oil change takes care of , either that or its spark knock or ping because i still need plugs and wires , ive been using 89 octane but when i 1st bought it i used 93 because there was bad gas in the tank

If it sounds like it's laboring while cranking (dead battery) then you have too much timing and the noise you hear is probly spark knock. I don't remember which way to turn for + - timning... I think i saw the car today, your second house off corner?
