not sure what this tells you guys but judging by all the pictures of a 5.0 ive just looked at my #6 plug on my dizzy is ware everyone elses #1 plug is ( atleast in that general area ) , but if i spin the dizzy to right around ware it should be ( yes i pull the little chip out ) the car has no balls and pops and boggs under load , not sure if that makes sence ......... im still going to look into the pick up coil but i wont be able to do that till my next day off work

just got done checking the fire order and everything there is good , im throwing in a new dizzy tomorrow before work , and info and help on tossing a new one in ?

thanks sir , im going to pull the dizzy tomorrow and swap a new one in , probably going to just wire brush the timing marks an i can read them , if a new dizzy doesnt fix the problem what else could it be ?

well obviously you'd just check the originals placement first. Usually its the cap or rotor that goes bad, less likely the distributor its self. Just make sure its pointed right torwards #1 at ) degrees timing and get back to us. Then maybe look into buying parts (pickup coil, sensor etc)

i got the distibutor taken apart now , going to buy a pick up coil tomorrow before work and try and ger her up and running before work

there are a number of good write ups on replacing the pickup coil.

I wish you were closer, I just did one on my car last week.

thanks for the offer , i think i got it taken care of thow ,., something that seems weird to me is that the dizzy seemd crooked when it was in the motor , it was sitting lower on the passanger side and higher on the drivers side , but the dizzy was fully seated , any ideas there ?

Pick up a can of MAF cleaner from a auto parts store. Its made by CRC. could be oil from the filter has stuck alot of dirt to the sensor wire and its not way out of calibration. Either that or someone dropped the sensor and cracked the glass bead. Byt the looks of it thats a stock sensor so the problem could easily be remedied if its not ignition related by cleaning.replacing the MAF. I'd still put a scan tol on it to get a BARO reading and see if there are any vacum leaks.

All common problems that are easy to trouble shoot and resolve. Also check the fuel Pressure. I have replaced a significant numbers of those mid 90's ford regulator for sticking high/low on fuel pressure.

Does this car have an aftermarket cam in it? I'm beginning to wonder if it has a non 5.0L cam in it and should be running the old 302 firing order? I've had this issue before with an edelbrock cam, and it ran, but not good, popped and made no power.

not sure if its got a cam in it ,., so i bought and replaced the pick up coil in the dizzy and installed it and went to drop back in the distributor and it wasnt going in all the way so i gave it a twist and when it still wouldnt go back in i pulled it out , the whole fucking oil pump rod came out with it , now what the hell do i do ?

Put it back in. just be careful not to drop it in teh oil pan. There's usually a retainer that keeps it from coming up with teh dizzzy. Not a big deal. Just put it back in. and if you can't get the dizzy to drop i get it set up and turn the motor over slightly to get it to drop hte last bit. But most of the timeif you keep jiggling it up and down it'll line up the pump shaft enough to drop.

i noticed in all the pictures ive seen of the oil pump rod that theres a c clip , posible the c clip is still in my oil pump ?

anyone ? im kinda worried about just dropping in a new rod , what if the c clip is still in there ? will it wipe out the oil pump or kill the motor ? will it be picked up in the filter ?

WHo cares where the clip went. It would have fallen into the front sump and it will just live in the botom and hurt nothing. Just be careful dropping the rod back into teh pump. Use a magnetic 1/4 drive deepwell socket if you can get one, it makes it easier. But can be done easily other way. Where are you in dearborn Heights? I'm not far from the 50's mc donalds.

the magnetic pan plug will catch the clip, pull the plug out of the front sump and i think you will find it.
and then do what Roger (Billydroveit)said to do.it will be fine. good luck!
