im new here guys but i just bought a mustang that was for sale on craigslist , the 95 gt 5.0 auto that was having trans issues , well i bought ut and drove it home and its deffinatly doing some weird shit , it almost seems like the motor falls on its face at around 3-3.5k rpm , i honestly dont think at all its the transmision , it shifts threw all the gears and does grip damn good , it seems to me that the motor falls on its face and just cant build up the rpm for the car to take off fast , i honestly dont think theres a stahl converter either like the guy said , either way im seriously doubting that its a trans issue , any of you guys got any advice ? car did drive about 45miles home with no problem , also the spedo is off about 10-15mph so that leads me to belive that there realy is a 3.73 in the rear end

also sorry if this is in the wrong section

x2 i had a 94 and it didnt have shit for balls either :( but it only had 65,000 on it, also is it popping over missing or just not building power ???

there are a number of issues these tend to have in the ignition system. one being the PIP inside the distributor and the TFI module on the pass. inner fender. ironically both of mine crapped out within the same week recently.

do you know how to check if it has a gear ? all you need is some jack stands and a friend lol

please add your location to your profile as well

im in dearborn heights ,the car was missing and popping under load and wouldnt break 3-3.5k rpm , took it to a buddys house ( hes on here , chrisjr77 or something like that ) and he did a little testing and what not , found out the car has no cats , h pipe , dynomax muffs , car is deffinatly geared my spedo is about 10-15mph off and launches pretty damn good , smog pump delete , anyhow he ended up timing it and now the car runs 100% better than it did , still not 100% but its a hell of alot better than it was , he thinks the dist is a tooth off , atleast now i know its nothing serious and we can fix it another day , cars a steal for 1900bucks , just needs a little paint now ( clear cots pealing bad )

those were Mass air and not speed density correct???

when you say "still not 100%" describe what its still doing? missing or low on power? what?

yes its a mass air car , its basicly doing the same thing as it was but i have way more power with it now than i did before , it still pops and misses if i get on it to hard , id say anything over 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and she starts missing and popping but the second i let of the throttle shes fine , my buddy still thinks the timing isnt right on it ( couldnt time it right because the previous owner painted over the timing marks ) , i think that when the previous owner took the distributor out to do his fancy paint work he put it in wrong , my buddy thinks its posibly 1 tooth off ......... any other thoughts and ideas on whats wrong with it are appreciated and will be looked into

like I said its common for the stator (pip sensor) to go bad in the distributors on 94/95 cars. when you pop the distributor out to do set timing pop a new one in.

how easy and how quick is it to pull the old dizzy and put a new one in there ? and get in the ball park with the timing ?

got pictures of the cold air intake ? sounds like lean running issues but the pip sensor fialure in the mustang is common.
