My next phone...

Dude it works great, my company provides me the Eris for work and all of my OWA sync's perfect even the calendar event's which also shares events with my google calendar, so its cool cause now when I look at my calendar it shows all my work and personal stuff. I am so trying to get my hands on one of these phones before the actual release. Usually I can with most phones but this one is going to be a bit harder.

P.S. I wonder wth we are going to use the front facing camera for.

Skype I'm assuming.

June 4. $200 with contract. It will use the same plans currently available with an added $10 charge for 4G so as not to charge people that are in areas without it for it.

Not exactly,
Only the Everything data or Business Advantage plans AND the additional $10/month is REQUIRED with this phone

I read what I read in a hurry so I very possibly could have read it wrong. So a plan can be as cheap as $80. Still as cheap or cheaper than any data plan with any other company. Edit: actually, what I was looking at just gave the price for 4G and didn't state that it was required.

In less than the first two months of ownership I know I'll be in at least two 4G locations (Honolulu and Minneapolis) so I was planning on picking it up for the first little bit anyway even if it was optional.

Per a spokesman for Sprint Nextel on public policy issues:
"There have been a TON of questions about this monthly Premium Data charge. I hope this will clear things up.

If you buy the Sprint 4G EVO, you have to pay this $10 charge each month. This is specific to the device. It's not related to whether you are using 3G or 4G. It is required if you have the phone.

Because the phone has a faster processor, a huge 4.3 inch screen and an 8 megapixel camcorder/camera, we expect you will be using a lot more data than you would with our other devices. These features will give you capabilities that have previously never been available on a wireless device and we think they provide a premium experience. (Remember, this is the world's first 3G/4G Android phone.)

Separately, some have asked about the $29 a month hotspot charge. (You can connect up to 8 WiFi-enabled devices to one EVO if you pay that monthly charge -- but this is optional.)"

Wow, awesome. Hotspot capability is a null point for me now. Bill is going up by $10 too huh? I'll have to make sure to spend some time DL'ing a fuckload of bullshit just to stick it back to them. I'm willing to bet quite a number of people's data usage will not change.

HAHA, that's funny because I found the actual release and it said something about the $10 thing but didn't actually say it was required. their release was so unclear they actually had to make a statement on it.

Either way, like I said, it'd be nice if I could keep paying $70 for my plan. But $80 is still as cheap/cheaper than anything comparable.

I guarantee my data usage goes up. There are so many times where I want to do something with my phone that my phone isn't capable of.

I have a touch pro 2....i wouldnt mind upgrading. Can this phone still tether internet to a laptop?

We have 4g here?

This. I don't see what the big deal was with Verizon. It was no better than AT&T when I had my iPhone. It's no better than Sprint. It's just more expensive than everything else.

I have had many carriers through out the years and travel all over Michigan. All I can say is Verizon had the best signal coverage of them ALL. I currently have AT&T and drop calls on several occasions when on the road.

No 4g here, not at least til the end of this year. Aside from the wireless hotspot capability I don't think you can tether to a laptop as you probably do with your pro 2. Carriers try to eliminate this so they can push connection cards on customers.

Well, I WAS waiting for this phone (EVO) but now that I see that it requires a much more expensive plan than I already have, I guess I try the TP2. Oh well .....

Why do you say no time soon? The current roll out plan gets it close. It would make sense for Detroit to be in the next group announced.

I saw the comming soon list and no Michigan city was on it. So by that thinking, I would bet that it wouldn't happen this year.
What I read was it was a fairly big deal to upgrade current equipment to support 4g.

Edit: I found info saying that Grand Rapids, Michigan might have it by the end of summer.

Agreed.

Going from my BB Curve to an Incredible mine has gone up significantly.

BB averaged between 35 and 50 MB per month, two weeks with the Incredible and I'm up around 400 MB and I even use WiFi when I'm home or somewhere with a hot spot.
