Best Buy shows bold on the Farmington Hills store to indicate that store has it in stock. all the other Best Buys show greyed out to say they don't. You might call Best Buy in F.H. and see if they have it for you. Might be too far of a drive to 14 Mile and Orchard Lake from Downriver though?
I got a Pre on launch day last year...and 4 phones later I'm still disappointed with the build quality of the damn thing. Little bullshit that has killed the phone, and awful refurbs from Sprint made it even better.
The Evo is the first phone that I've considered getting out of contract. It's $450, but it looks like an amazingly capable phone for what it is, and the only thing that bugs me is paying the $10 for premium data, although we don't/won't have 4G for some time.
I'm a little cautious of getting a launch phone again, so I'll keep an eye out for more feedback from you guys.
I'm on the same boat as you as far as the Pre goes. There are things I love about it, but the reliability is a bit lacking. I'm on my 3rd now and I need to get it replaced again because the speaker doesn't work.....again
My wife just got the Evo and loves it......it seems really big to me, but I may get one when I'm eligible in Sept.
I got my Evo yesterday. It is pretty awesome. But then again, I am coming from the 1st gen Instinct, so I may have a skewed view.
- Browser is lighting fast on 3G. All the websites I have tried work fine, including any pulldown menu's and flash content. Youtube works fast too. Youcan pause video and start it up just like on a desktop.
- Great calendar function. This was a major failure of the Instinct.
- Lighting fast. Hardly any delay at all. Switches pretty fast between horizontal and vertical.
- Comes with a bunch of preinstalled apps. I haven't even tried most of them, but it has the "Marble in a Maze" game, Googlemaps, etc.
- Camara is awesome. Great resolution, plus the front/back thing is pretty cool. Records HD video. 8 MP on the back, 2 MP on the front.
- Has an HDMI output plug next to the USB on the bottom. I can't wait to stream Netflix through my phone to my TV! Seeya Comcast!
- Only concern so far is battery life. It seems to burn it FAST. Luckily, it charges off any USB.
Great phone. I-Phone may be the benchmark, but that doesn't mean that Evo isn't better.

There's a couple of great articles about how to maximize battery life, especially in an area without 4G, like we are right now. Turn off WiFi and 4G, and if you don't have it yet, download the Advanced Task Killer free app. It'll really make a difference. Turn the screen down as low as you can stand to manage it, and that should help you out a lot. Check out Android Central for more info on the Evo and other Android phones.
i've been thinking about it. I have a touch pro 2 and i'm getting kind of tired of windows mobile and its glitchyness. I wonder how android is. I think im gonna head over to the sprint store today and play with one.

One thing I'm trying to figure out though, how do you disable Facebook contact syncing
Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Facebook -> Uncheck "Sync Contacts"
Netflix uses Silverlight, not Flash. Can't stream netflix on it, well I can't on my Incredible and they're essentially the same phone, so maybe once full flash support comes out you can, but as it is currently you cannot.
