My 87' Chrylser Conquest TSi

I've been lurking around for a bit. I figure its about time I introduce my car. As the title says, it's a 87 Chrysler Conquest widebody. A few years ago I was looking for a fun project car just to kill time and have fun with, and I can across this one for $350 with a blown headgasket, a bit rusted and oxidized paint.

This is when I first brought it home.

My original plan was to swap a LS1 and T56 into it but I just wanted to drive the damn thing so I just tried to get the thing running.

I replaced the headgasket and onthe first test drive I drove it 10 miles or so, then I turn down my street and it dies. I tried tostart it again and it wouldn't turn over. I wasn't paying attention to oil pressure once I got so close to home. My stupid mistake. So I bring it home and start tearing it apart. and found that I did a number on the rod bearings

So I pulled the rest of the motor out and start rebuilding it. I didn't go to crazy with it because I'm on a budget and notto worried about it breaking records or anything, so I just just did a stock bottom end rebuild.

And threw the stock top end back on

Rallycross with the car only last up until augst when I got it painted.
I did one event and was pissed off at myself for getting it dirty after one event. After this event I vowed I wouldn't rallycross it anymore

So needless to say.. it doesn't get dirty anymore.

$6000 later and hundreds of hours of work, this is how it sits now.

I haven't done muchin go fast mods. Most of the mods are suspension. The few engine mods I did do, I feel I got a pretty good response. In june of last, year I went to the drag strip for the first time. It was a nickle and dime night so it was pretty packed so I only got a few runs off.

Here's my fastest slip:

Stock is mid 16's I think. Not bad considering the few cheap power mods I did. I think I could get it down in the 14.3's. I'm a n00b at drag racing so I still need a few runs to figure out how and when to launch and shift.

Anyways.... here's some more vids from all the events went to lastyear.

Thats about it. Once this is done, I still plan on getting another one to do the LS1 swap. If this one is ever done.

Next on the list of things to do:
Find some 17x9 or larger Mustang wheels so I can put these on em:

Enjoy

Its not bad from the drivers seat. I was a passenger when I let a friend run it once. That is crazy. Thats the reason why I put a new seat and a harness on the passenger side. It was torture.

That little car with 275's all around will be a crazy good handling car! Nice buildup and welcome to the board. Everytime I see these cars they are crumpled up, usually the front end. I dig the blue variety myself and I'd still buy one if I found a clean one.

welcome, and great car.

I used to have a silver 87 TSi with the SHP option, 5 speed with burgandy interior. I loved that car. Lots of fun, but they nickel and dime you to death.

man this makes me want a conquest even more

What he said. vvvv

You almost have to be crazy to buy one. I admit I am a bit. But I like working on it so its almost perfect for me. There's always something to do. If you can accept that, don't mind working on it and can afford to fix up a neglected one then go for it. I like it because its fun, rather easy to work on. Parts are somewhat hard to come by but there are sources. Its just different. Not many are around so I enjoy the looks and all the punk kids telling me how nice my supra, RX-7 or mustang is. Yes.. some think its a mustang.

Hey I was with my buddy in a black GTO and we ran you on woodward friday night! that car moves out!

welcome.

Lol... nice... I didn't hurt his ego too much did I? Good run though. I'm putting it on the dyno this week so prepare for some sub-200 hp dyno sheets. :jagoff: Torque should be close to 300 though. Its only saving grace. That should make him feel even better ;)

Was that you guys that got pulled over by SLC?

I don't think they are really all that light from what I remember a guy who had a Starion in Lincoln saying about his.

Saw the car at the auto x yesterday. Looks good. Always like the looks of those cars. I was driving the Lightning.

door tag says 3400, people have weighed in at 3150lbs... not light at all.

Yeah.. the lightning was gettin it as usual. I think we're both neck and neck for style points. ;)

Where do you guys do the snow cross stuff at?
Fowlerville fairgrounds, Bob's family raceway in clarksville, Crystal Speedway in Crystal, The fairgrounds in Adrian. Its actually rallycross and its pretty much a year long series. Once a month or so. If it snows...... we race on it, if it rains.... we go play in the mud., if it nice out... . we're just glad its not snowing or raining.
