My wife took a job in the Novi area so we will be moving to Farmington Hills at the end of the month. I'm unfamiliar with the area so if you guys could give me some guidance on the best eats in the area that would be awesome!

Also, just how bad is the traffic in the 275/96 area at say 4:30?

Yeah 275 is horrible around that time (I drive it everyday). If there is one accident (even on the other side of the road) both directions come to a halt. But 275 should be closing sometime this year for repairs so that means all the other roads around the area will be even more horrible now.

As far as food goes, there are tons of restaurants in the area that all have decent food so take your pick.

I work in Novi/Farm Hills, live in Northville/South Lyon, I'm able to take 8/9/10 mile across depending on conditions. The x-pressway's at those times are a clusterbleep as mentioned.

Eat's, Aubrey's, it's a chain now, but I grew up on the original out in Ypsilanti. There's pretty much all the restaurants out this way, Cheesecake Factory at 12 Oaks Mall.

At least the morning commute won't be too bad. 5:30AM, 275S. I'll have to ask my wife if she has been to Aubrey's when she was at Eastern.

You're much closer to downtown Farm Hills than spending time in Novi. I've spent lots of time in Cowleys, Irish Pub/Bar, haven't been to Basement Burger Bar or Farmington Brewing Company but hear good things. I do alot of Los Tres Amigos lunches, mexican. Nice area.

Lot's of chain restaurants and shopping up at 14 Mile and Orchard Lake too.

Good to hear! We will get out and explore once we are up there, but it's nice to have a few suggestions to start off with.

275 is a nightmare most of time during the week in the 'bankers' hours time frame.
Don't worry much about food. That's one thing Michigan has a lot of...

I was hoping you guys could clue me into your favorite spots in the area! We are looking forward to being in a "big city" again after spending the last 2 years in Dundee.

Welcome to The FH aka, the capital of the Bestside. Avoid 696 anytime after 2:45pm. Most of the time during rush hour it's easier to use any of the other major roads. 12 Mile moves pretty well between FH and Novi.

Basement Burger Bar and Farmington Brewing Company in downtown Farmington are the best places around. Cowley's sucks... Fuck that guy. Up Orchard Lake from you there's a bunch of uppity places where the West Bloomfield people like to go. I try to avoid them when I can. For Mexican, Los Tres Amigos is pretty good and you might even run into Nick (CMYZ28) there if you're lucky. For pizza, Tomatoes is my favorite (if you like east coast style thin crust). There's one at 14 and Merriman and another at Grand River and Halsted.

11 mile and Farmington rd, here.
Lets get a beer.

I'm a mile west of this guy, just on the other side of Heritage Park.

I am at 13 and Farmington. Basement burger bar is great if you can put up with crappy service IMO. I prefer El Patio at Grand River and Haggerty for Mexican over Los Tres Amigos. Doc's Sport Retreat is a decent place for pizza a little bit south in Livonia at 6 mile.

I always forget about Docs. Decent food and beer, and it's so big that you never have to wait, even when everything else on Hagerty is full.

Sent from my S6.

I work in FH and do not get peoples attracting to el patio. You walk in and the smell of bleach pounds you in the face. Their food is cheap and mediocre at best. It's the Coney Island of Mexican food.
