Justin - I was not laying into you in the least, I was expressing disagreement with the forum rules as posted. You should really stop taking personal offense to things like this posted on the net. :cheers:

But I've watched it happen in other threads on different sites where it turned out the customer was either exaggerating or not telling the whole story. The site admins getting the whole story is really important before throwing mud. If a shop or person is dirty or screwed someone over, then it should get called out. But it better be 100% true before it's made public. Again, this is completely unrelated to Reiko's problem. I'm just replying to Joe.

I'm sorry this happened Reiko. I never give anyone money upfront. If they can't buy the parts to build me a transmission (engine, heads, etc.) to sell me a completed item/service, they probably should just go out of business.
 
yea i droped my shit off the 3 weeks ago to get a bakre and valve body put in.and he said last week he ordered some shit and that it would be done soon.this is 3 weeks ago i guess he lucky im doing a frame off on my truck and really dont need it right away i need it like soon so i cant start my engine before winter and my engine locks up because its brand fucken new.now im pissed im calling his ass tomorrow if he hasnt touched my shit im picking it the fuck up.does anyone know who else i can go to if he hasnt touched my trans?.

No shit, I was pretty upfront I'd pay in full once both cars had trannies back in them. The Z28 took a while (Feb to July but I did say no hurry :dontknow:)but thet TTA got done pretty damn quick when I think him (or Sean) got the hint I was starting to get annoyed.
For what it's worth I really do think he's a cool guy from the couple times I met him.
 
That really sucks man. My brother went to him just over 2 months ago for a trans and got it with in a 2 weeks. I thought he did quick work for an amazing price. Sorry you got bent over and he didn't even spit on it.

I see this stuff go on at body shops all the time, especially with restorations or hot rods. On an extremely large project, I understand deposits and payments to keep the project going. But to me, anything under $15K (an expensive paint job) will get paid when completed. Insurance companies don't pay for collision repairs until the car is completed (regardless of cost) and the customer is happy. If they sign their check over to the shop early, they've only screwed themselves.

Never tell anyone to take their time. They will and then some. This is how a two week trans job turns into one year. I had to go to a shop in Ocala that had a guys car for 4 years! Some of this was the owners fault, but there was still no reason why it would take so long.

When I have anything done, an agreement is made in writing. This includes the cost, the parts being used and a time frame. It's basically a contract. I want the old parts (or to at least see them), and I want a copy of the parts invoices if possible. Any shop, whether it be a body shop, transmission shop or machine shop should have numbers or names for what that ordered part goes to (a paper trail).

When I handle a file for an insurance company, everything that goes into looking at a certain car includes my own job number for the car. Even my mileage logs tell me what car I looked at with a certain tank of gas and the mileage for that job. This is basic business. I'm sure Reiko does the same.

It's sad that we can't trust our fellow man on word and handshake alone. I don't look at cars for anyone but insurance companies. All three I tried to help personally stiffed me for payment. A check from an insurance company is golden.

i went to riddings and had my trans done fast i went back out racing in no time and its perfect

nope wasn't towards you at all. you guys must be right, mikes a fucking asshole. considering after he droped reikos shit off he drove over to my shop and help me pull my transfercase that I broke yesterday morning drivng to work at 4:30 on a friday and stayed till after 7pm helping me on a friday, then made the calls to arrange me getting parts and had them delivered last night, and will be at my shop in about 15 minutes to install them and give me a hand reinstalling my transfer case so i can drive to the mudvein concert at 6. There's a saying i learned a long time ago. You cant make everyone happy, but the ones you can make happy, you keep happy.
 
Unfortunately, how many of his current jobs is he not taking care of to help you out? Sure he is making you happy but at the cost of annoying how many other customers?
