Michigan Stadium to host Red Wings/Toronto Winter Classic

The board of Regents at U of M voted and approved this yesterday. i'm not really sure why the NHL is trying to act like this is a secret.

Tickets will probably be 500-1000 each for descent seats. Season ticket holders will have first crack at them, good thing I know a few. My only question now is, WHEN do the tickets actually go on sale?

does anyone know what will actually have to be done to get my hands on some tickets. im not a season ticket holder, i dont have any "sources" etc. just a huge wings fan that wants to be there. im willing to pay what needs to be paid for the ticket. just gotta find out how and when to get my hands on one

attempt to buy on ticketmaster when they are out, if you dont get any, stubhub.

It should be Wings. I don't know how they could give first crack to UM season ticket holders without getting people upset.

It's not going to happen for wolverine fans. If the game was at any other venue, it'd be the same. They may give those with wolverine season tickets second crack at them behind wings season ticket holders...who knows yet.

The NHL will pay up to $3 million to use the stadium from Dec, 1, 2012 to mid-January. The NHL has also agreed to donate an undisclosed amount of money to the university for student scholarships.

Comerica will get a coat of ice as well for games including the alumni game etc... Illich isn't going to be hurting for money from this.

Michigan got 3 mil for hosting this, pretty sweet for the athletics programs. Sounds like they'll be serving beer too. It will be weird drinking (legally lol) in the big house.

WHEN WILL TICKETS GO ON SALE AND HOW CAN I PURCHASE TICKETS?
Ticket information will be released at a later date. Teams will communicate with their season ticket holders once ticket information is finalized.
Fans interested in becoming 2012-13 Red Wings full or partial season ticket holders should contact the Red Wings ticket office at 313-396-7575 or go to DetroitRedWings.com.

Did anyone attend the previous hockey games they held at the Big House? I saw pictures and the rink looked so tiny. Seemed like you would need binoculars to get a good view of the game unless you were sitting in the first 10 or so rows.
