4V motors REALLY like gears. If the guy isn't a pussy and really put some gear in it the thing will move pretty good.

and my friends formula puts 390 to the wheels
Here is my take,
1) 390 to the wheels out of an auto LT1 with bolt ons and a cam? No way. Thats what an LS1 six speed would make with bolt ons and a cam. Maybe I missed something but that doesn't add up.
2) if you spun hard at the beginning than pulled back, he was probably not spraying.

My stock 302 1984 ho, e5 heads un touched, stock valves springs, e303 cam, stock ho headers if you want to call them that. C4 edge convertor, 3.73 gears. with a 150 shot ina full interior car weight 3400 with me in it.
went 12.0@102 with no full pressure prob would have went 11.8\11.7 if it could have made a full pass
My buddys stock 5 speed notch with just shorties and a gear went 13.5 with nothing else done to it.
