LSX time???

here are the pics, every piston is damaged in the same valve relief locations, 2 of them are cracked. I have a feeling its a faulty design, every valve relief has very little material, and all are broke the same. But i still am not sure on the cause.

This is fuel, but i am not sure if this was from me or not when i took the fuel rails off if i dumped fuel down the plug hole disassembling the motor, i dont think i dumped that much fuel, so its got me a bit nervous..

Ouch! I would get a set of Diamond Pistons next time or CP's. I will still have your injectors flow checked also if you even suspect that they might have not operated properly. I am very sorry for your luck.

the valves look fine, no comtact marks or anything. I think it was a bad piston design. The company said that design would work just fine, clearly they were wrong. I am running the new TFS heads and the valves are at an angle and offset, so that plus my stroker crank i needed to notch the pistons. thats why the design was like that but i think they just took too much off for the reliefs.

sucks man. Whats the plan now? I mean basically its gotta be completely torn down. How bad are the cylinder walls? Can you have them re-honed? New pistons of course.

My engine builder thinks its flat out a bad design, hes gonna try and get them to give me credit to new ones, but again, with this head, and stroker kit i dont know what kind of piston design i want to run

I need to tear it down, the company will want to see the pitons im sure if they are willing to give me any money back. then i need to decide on a new design, if i go with the same company or diamond or something. i need to figure out what the minimal relief can be so i have as much ring land material as possible

He thinks the block can be saved with another 10 over, not sure about any other damage yet

Im thinking of scrapping the stroker so i can get as much piston material i can... with these new heads, i dont think anyone is running a stroker/tfs headed 2v car to know what type of piston design i should lead towards. I might be the only one rite now since they are so new

So are you gonna have to go with another block/crank setup? I dont remember what you did to that block..it bored over at all?

The block is just 10 over, so i think i can save the block. my issue is no one i can find is running a set up like me. Most stroker mod motors use a 3.75 stroker crank, im running the bigger 3.80 stroker crank, this leaves me very few options for pistons/ring pack set up. Plus these new heads and not knowing if i need valve reliefs or not, trick flow said i wouldnt need reliefs, just a dish and id be ok with my cams and everything. the piston designer said i need reliefs and made them that deep, causing to little material and clearly failing. My engine builder thinks i need some sort of relief but not that deep.

Only reason im thinking of scrapping the crank is so i can run a more common off the self piston/ring pack and be safer. but ive been told to keep it and just run a better design piston

ahhh..i gotcha. I understood the valve reliefs/piston stuff you were talking..i just didnt remember how far you bored the motor over.

I would probably do the same thing and go with something more common

But you have to think, these stroker motors are common, mine is just a tad bigger .05 more stroke. there are tons of guys running MMR stroker motors, livernois sells/builds stroker mod motors, saleen ect.
