ya, my car peaks power at about 6000 before it falls off, the cam i have should pull higher but the intake is holding it back.
max effort 346 cars are revving over 7000 to get to the 500whp mark.
We can do it at close to 6800 with a stock ls6 intake these days on 6spd cars. I had a A4 F car recently make 477 but it has yet to back it up at the track.I will be trying to find more RPM on the l76 l92 stuff this winter. Being as I finally have enough data to have a meaningful shot at it. As this progress's I plan to post updates but don;t expect anything soon.
wow, i didnt know anybody has done it with an LS6 intake.
What did you think ?
it pulled real nice for a sec until t/c kicked in, but i can't wait
never drove a car with a stall before either.
also i seen alot of people talking about going speed density, is it really worth the switch?
a few other things i was thinking about today
what to do for a clutch, i read the ls7 clutch is junk from alot of people
figured sean you'd have some input on this. also any input on a lightweight flywheel?
i also tried finding a complete ls2 timing chain kit that has the sprokets but all i've been able to find is the chain, cloyes has a kit that my friend can get from his work (autozone) suppose to be oem

can't use the ls2 cam gear. Its a one bolt unit.
depends one what you want to spend on a clutch. Alot of people don't like Spec's but my stage III x-pad has taken more abuse than anyone ever thought it would. I wouldn't use a lightweight flywheel unless the car is very light, very hih geared or is only road raced
correction, the LATE (2007+) LS2 chains are a 1 bolt chain, 2005-2006 were a 3 bolt
a few more questions
do the fbody ls1's use a windage tray like the vette's?
the biggest hold back about the l92 heads is the damn intake. even the intakes for the cathedral ports suck....but i believe there is the most gained by porting on the exhaust side for the l92 heads running stock l76 intakes. accordin to the flow bench the l92 heads flow the best with the gm performance single plane carb style intake...compression..well in my opinion should be good up to bout 11-11.5:1 depending on camshaft. for pump gas. but guys the damn chambers are about 70cc so to get the compression be prepared to mill them babies and run a thin ass gasket on stock shorts. but then becareful because the damn plastics intake well they start fittin pretty tight and becareful of port and bolts alignment. then thinnest i have ran is milled .045 and runnin a .040 gasket and the intake was pretty snug..prolly could of got away with a little more but things are ganna start gettin tight. the mad scientist and myself try to keep tabs on these things. i know we have made over 500 rwhp with livernois heads n cams stock shorts and none of them had all them bolts ons electric water pumps, pulleys, none of that stuff just good exhaust system and a good tune...on vettes and f-body's.... even though i build em still just don't care much for them damn mod motors....lsx till the end...lmao....
The intake may not be a big deal. I am going to run some camshafts with another company this winter and see how they do. If we get lucky " I hope so" the R&D I have been putting into developing camshafts for these plenum ram plastic intakes should net results with the l76 intake.
Hold tight till spring. I think there is more to come.
