Looking for my old Ford Lightning I sold years ago to MM member who i believe passed away.

They're fun trucks. I was gonna say just do it. Off all that other crap you have and tell your friends to find another place to store their quads! lol Seriously.

Glad to hear you are getting it back Mark! Congrats! Hope the trip goes well and can't wait to see it around again.

I need a computer (instead of cell phone) to list mods.

435hp 522 trq at rear wheels when i last dynoed it. Its had more mods since then.

Congrats! I wish I could find out what happened to my old '86. I'm sure she is dead, but I'd love to have the old girl back.

I Posted this elsewhere:

back in 1999 a friend bought a ford lightning, drove it 3000 miles and got his 4th drink driving. The truck sat for 3 years immobilized. He wanted to sell it, but no one would buy it as they couldn't drive it. i offered him what he owed (great friend, right?). he said no. A few months later he came to me and we agreed on a price.

After changing the tires (flat spots) I added a ton of mods, but never touched the internal of the motor. I had it dyno tuned in Long Island, NY. (drove back through a hurricane leftovers in the mts in Pennsylvania, it was great). It made 435hp/522trq at the rear wheels on a mustang dyno ... at the times on a conservative tune. it was a street truck, A/C, stereo, etc... not a stripped out race truck.
Afterwards, I added full exhaust (it was dynoed through stock exhaust manifolds and 4 cats etc...), so the power went up a little as it could now breathe.

I kept it through law school, and then sold it afterwards around 2006. It has about 35-6,000 miles. I didn't really want to sell it, so i put the sale price quite high and someone agreed to pay me my asking price... so I sold it. Keep in mind that i rarely drove this truck in the rain and it never saw snow. A few weeks later (maybe a month) I had left over parts that i delivered to his house and I was pissed at what I saw. The truck was parked on the street and covered in salt and snow. (it was november'ish) I told him i would have kept it if I knew he was going to let it go to shit.

A few months later he passed away and his brother got the truck. His brother drove it for a while and then sold it to a guy in St Louis.

A couple months ago, I started looking online for another lightning. (my wife wasn't too crazy about the idea as I already had 3 60's mustangs and no room for another vehicle). I talked to some friends of the guy I sold it to and they tried to talk to his brother to find my old truck... Nothing. I figured it was gone, crashed, or beat to hell somewhere.

About a month ago, I saw a black lightning at Burger King and thought, i should look at NLOC.NET (National Lightning Owners Club) classifieds to see if there is a nice truck there. LOW AND BEHOLD, my old truck was for sale. I called the owner and we chatted for about 2 hours.

I then recalled talking to him about 5 years ago after he bought the truck. He called me and I told him everything i did to the truck and what to expect.

He's owned it for 5 years and put 10,000 miles on the truck. He added some cosmetic things to it (billet grills, new rims, Kenwood touchscreen/nav stereo with a am and sub etc...) He bought a SCT Limewire (never used) and HID lights (still in the box and gave me the stock rims back. He changed the exhaust to some type of bullet muffler with no cats. It was in great shape, albeit a little surface rust on the undercarriage. We agreed on a price (he came down over $2k).

Last weekend, I drove down to West Virginia (he moved from St. Louis) and picked up the truck and trailered it home. Today, being a nice day, i decided to drive it to work.

The only thing i am going to do is POR-15 the entire undercarriage and possibly change the exhaust. It is obnoxiously loud. Plus not having any cats, I have a code for the rear O2 sensors.

Once it's done, I'll park it next to the '66 mustang.
I made a deal with my wife that I'd sell the '69 and '70 mustang to make room, so A guy from Grosse Pointe is coming this weekend to pick up both cars. I just don't have the attachment to those cars as i do the Lightning i know most of you are thinking, it's just a truck, but it was once that I did all the work and mods myself. The mustangs I sent to a body shop.

What other vehicle can you tow a camper/trailer, fill the bed full of hay, enjoy the A'C and and nice smooth (stiff) ride, and still run bottom 12's in the 1/4 mile?

So have to ever sold a vehicle you regret and try to find it?

I'm debating on keeping or selling the stock rims and tires

Cool story! The only one that I really regret selling ( I don't sell cars much, lol) is my SRT-4 ACR. I still see it everyday though and it's being loved by the new owner.

OP, did you buzz a Grabber Blue Shelby tonight. If it was you.... Geez O Pete that thing is frickin' loud! Startled the CRAP out of me! LOL
