Too bad you're not closer. I get feed wood from a tree service on occasion. Last year I had to cut him off since he was burying me. Keep an eye on craigslist for free wood and let all your friends know you're burning wood. I've scored bunches of wood from family and friends over the years. If you can find a wood lot to cut on that's the way to go. If you're not afraid of pine I can get you enough for your first season right now, it's in Bloomfield though.
You're in the right mind set, get ahead and stay ahead. I try to have 3 years plus put up at all times. Don't count on someone seasoning wood for you, take care of it yourself and know what you have. Your first year or so stay away from Oak,(you can take it just don't count on it being good the first season) it takes at least two years to be decent, I try to give it three. It's getting hard to find ash due to the emerald ash bore but if you can find some it will be decent by fall.
What stoves are you looking at? I'm a bit of a wood snob/stove geek, if you have any questions let me know! I started with a Lopi Endeavor, I'm currently burning a Blaze King Princess.
