It's finally in Forza..... Forza players get inside...

ok. Moral dilemna. I pre-ordered LCE from Best Buy using bestbuy.com. My wife went to the store to pick it up for me today and they informed her that there was a screw up and they don't have one for me. I call and raise hell. They give me a $20 gift card and 1600 microsoft points and told me to buy the regular one. The catch, only an online rep can do this for me and their system is down until tomorrow sometime (Buying with a gift card). So I tell them fine, I'll just get it tomorrow from the store. So I get the points needed to download anything that would have been in the LCE as well as a $20 gift card for the price of a regular game. Here's where it gets interesting.

My mom calls me and says "Hey, you got a package from Best Buy and it showed up at our house (Michigan)". I ask her to open it and there's an LCE. So now I have a $20 gift card, 1600 MS points, and a regular version of the game. All of which is unopened and won't be picked up till tomorrow. I've already been refunded for the original pre-order of the LCE. So what do I do? Morally, I should return the LCE to them, but realistically it's already been a major pain in my ass (wife spent 2 hours at the store while they tried to figure everything out). So do I keep it, or send it back?

Anyone else notice the AI seems to bump more than in FM3? I started doing some of the Autovista challenges. The DMC12 review is hilarious.

The reviews said they would. They're supposed to be more "real" and they also get more difficult as your level increases, assuming you're playing Career mode.

Are you tunerSteve or whatever it is? I accepted you and you left like 5 min. later. haha. I'm guessing that's how you found out you can only be in one?

Yeah, that's me. I got another club request and thought it would work with both, guess not. Sorry bout that.

just sent a request to det. I'm pferd23...right now, the game is not liking my pedals & steering wheel controller :-(

I get all the Ford upgrades for free... Now I will work on Chevrolet.... Or Pontiac? hmmmm

What do you mean? What wheel/pedals do you have?

A Microsoft wheel. All sorted now, just had to deactivate the hand-held controller. I'm liking the shared club garage feature that can be used for live races as well as regular racing...

keep it.

My thoughts so far:

- Graphics are fantastic. I didn't think I'd notice that much of a difference between FM3 and FM4. It's noticeable. Looks stunning, time of day changes are cool, just wish there were night races.
- Tire physics seem better, but still not what I was expecting.
- AI is more aggressive and will use cars with a closer PI to yours than before. I noticed in most races all cars were within 4-5 PI numbers to mine. Much more likely to bump you if you try to stay on the line.
- The new turn, pass, drift, speed ratings are kinda dumb. I find myself getting a lot of 3/4 on turns and passes. Drafting and speed ratings are few and far between. Seems gimicky.
- Autovista is pretty cool, but you have to unlock all of them.
- Affinity is a neat concept, but going 25% each level until lvl. 4 seems a bit extreme. I think a 10% increase until you hit lvl. 10 would have been perfect. By then, you're putting some serious seat time in a car. Not sure what the benefits are as you go higher. My highest is lvl. 9 and it was a $55k boost and free parts.
- Leveling up is much faster than in FM3. I made it to lvl. 23 last night in 6 hrs. of playing. Again, the levels appear to be adjusted, but i've been going through them quickly. The multipliers in certain races help in the early stages as well.
- World tour is OK. Better than the calendar system in FM3, but still not great. I wish they'd adopt a free play ability like the GT series has. You can go and play the event list, but it doesn't count towards your world tour progress, which I don't care for.

All in all, a great game. Lots of replay value and a lot of things to explore. Can't wait to see what additional cars the DLC adds to the mix.

Overboost --- you're only at level 23....of 150 levels... They changed that up a little bit ;)

Yes, they went from 50 to 150 driver levels. On one hand I like it that there are more, but you go from one level to the next very quickly. Also, so far the "seasons" in the World Tour are very short. I'm on semi-pro and only have about two hours in total. It looked like there were maybe 10 seasons..? Each one is progressively longer than the last though, so I'm sure that will catch up.

And for the brand affinity thing...I don't think I'm a fan. Like Overboost said, 4 levels to the top is too few. And 100% is too much. It takes the fun out of modifying anything, IMO. And for the modifying, it seems like you can't change anything on the lower level cars without having them bumped up an entire class or two. And then you get to a higher level car, and adding 30+ HP to a Z06 only changes your PI by like 7 points. It just doesn't seem proportionate.

Bitching aside, I'm really enjoying the game. The graphics are noticably improved, and I didn't have a complaint about them before. The physics of the game seem better, although I'm playing this one on "simulated" instead of "normal" for steering style. I don't know how large of an impact that would have on it. But you can really tell the difference in steering a '69 Camaro vs. a '10 Audi R8, which is awesome. I love the new Alps course, too. And having a choice on what car you get with each driver level is nice as well.

I like the parts discounts. For someone like me who builds lots of cars for different events (cat/mouse, road racing, drag racing, tag, blah blah blah), it helps out.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that in FM3 you leveled through the early levels really fast too.

The early races seemed harder to me in FM3. Now they give you a car that has some mods, plus they gave you a bunch of cars from 3. The AI cars fight for position more now but I think they drove faster in the early races in 3. So you had a worse car to start in 3 plus the AI drove faster. Plus the mods cost more so it took a little more to get your starting car built up.

If you haven't discovered this, you can load all custom vynil groups you had in 3 into 4. Pretty awesome. Everything you bought from a store front in 3, everything you made, etc.

I know I'm still a long way from being done. I think it said that I have about 3% of the career mode done, and that was somewhere between lvls. 20-23. Definitely going to put a lot of time into this game to finish it up.

Like you, I turned more of the nannies off in this game. No ABS, simulation steering, etc. and its really starting to pay off for me. I agree you can definitely tell the differences between individual cars now.

Yes, you blow through the first five seasons. I think it goes 5, 7, 10, 12, 14 races for the first five seasons. In year 5, you're already getting into R3 class cars, so you will wanna have a decent stable built up. It seems like in the World Tour, you start with one class, and by the end of it, you're starting the next class of cars up if you choose. It also updates if you choose to do it with a lesser car. Essentially, you could do all 10 seasons with a Class F car if you choose to.

Has anyone tried to use a shared car? I tried to use the Cee'd to get one achievement last night but all I could do was view it. Or is it that they're only for online matches?

Oh, and if I forgot to mention it, the Autovista challenges are extremely easy. I knocked a bunch of those out last night

As far as modding and PI increases, put tires on the Z06 first, then give it 30 HP. Then try giving it 30 HP and then tires. I'm willing to bet the PI increase you get by doing the HP changes each way. The Z06 is kind of on the edge of not having useable power, so if you give it a big power bump it really isn't faster other than at the very top end.
