Issue with Ford dealer on new F150 purchase...

I am having an issue with the Ford dealer I purchased my 2011 f150 from. When I bought the truck, it had a dent in the back of the cab. In the purchase agreement, they agreed to repair the dent. I specifically told them I did not want any paintwork done to the truck, only paintless dent repair. They felt confident their PDR guy could remove the dent. The paintless dent guy they had work on it wet sanded the finish after pulling the dent out and went through the clear coat. The dealer spot-sprayed the area with clear coat and buffed it the same day. Due to the paint not being fully cured, they got polishing compound imbedded in the paint and it could not be buffed out. After seeing this, they determined it needed to be repainted. Upon repainting it, they did not remove the rear window and there was a bad paint line going around the rubber molding on edge of the window. Not only this, the paint quality was horrible. We determined it would yet again need to be repainted. This time, the window was removed for the job. I personally removed the rear interior of the truck as I did not want their guys climbing all over the inside of the truck. I got the truck back two weeks later and there is a run in the paint, the bed was way out of alignment, and the finish is swirled. Also, the rear window rubber molding has spots where the buffer hit it and it is shiny. I personally fixed the bed alignment and rubbed out the swirls, so all that remains is the minor damage to the window molding and the run in the finish (Which is in a spot where it cannot be sanded out).

None of this left over damage is horrible looking and would probably pass on a 10 year old truck, but not on a new 47K truck. It has now been two months since I have purchased the truck and half of the time it has been in their body shop. I am talking with the dealership owner this week to discuss matters. I really do not know what to expect. They did mildly compensate me for the aggravations by providing me with a free bed extender and 8 free oil changes. Obviously that is not an enough to make me happy.

What is reasonable of me to expect/ask for? Any input is appreciated!

Check the lemon law, if they have it more than 30 days they have to buy it back. The downside is the depreciation per mile. Been there, done that thanks to GMC. If you signed off when they gave you the oil change and extender you may be hosed.

I thought Lemon law was only for manufactures defects with new vehicles. But I could be wrong.

This doesn't fall under the Lemon Law. There is nothing mechanically wrong with the truck. This should have been resolved before the truck was taken from the lot. Plenty of dealerships I wouldn't let paint a model car let alone a $45+ thousand dollar truck. I think I would have taken a monetary discount on the truck and left the dent alone.

there was nothing mechanically wrong with my 1995 Z-28 either, but I lemon lawed it and got compensation back from GM.

30 days doesnt make it lemon law.

Contact 91Trunk....who by the way you should have purchased from in the first place. :)

If its inline with the bed it's probably transport damage from being tied down to tight or incorrectly

To be honest, I doubt you will ever be happy with the repair they do (Not a crack at you, I just don't think they can make it look factory new.).
Either ask to swap for a new truck or take some compensation and just be content with an imperfect truck.

Not to be rude but judging by the pictures of your cobra your very anal about the things you own, which I am as well. Why did you buy a truck with a dent did you not look it over before you bought it?

He said he knew it had a dent. It was supposed to be fixed by the dealership without any paint work. They broke into the paint which has caused all of this hoopla.

yeah no shit, i wouldn't have signed a thing til the fix was made.

well if they only anchor from below and im assuming they anchor to a frame or suspension component, how could that tweak the bed enough to dent the cab?

You would be surprised at what happens to an improperly anchored truck. There's more twist there than you can realize, specially if they were hauled on a train car. Ford specifically has a test to simulate "rail haul" To make sure their product can withstand it

Good luck. I bet you have been deemed "that guy" they just want out of their hair. Keep after them. Most dealership painters just don't care.

My father in law had a two-tone Chevy truck with the silver part repainted by the dealership because it was flaking off. Within one year is was rusted badly where they worked on it.

30 days does in fact make it lemon law in MI. As does 4 repeat repairs within 1 year, 12,000 miles.

I would not expect anything less than a brand new F150 which is what you paid for. Meet with the Dealer Principal and or GM and request a substitution of collateral.
