Identity theft

No not me, this is someone who had my license and SSN. I'm assuming from a credit application or maybe even urgent care. I recently sold a car and I'm second guessing myself if I left dealership paperwork in the glove box. Capital one is pulling Menard's receipt so I'm hoping they will share camera footage from the register transactions.

I just had someone use a copy of my credit card at Ikea and an Aldi in Canton. Someone actually made a clone of my card and used it in the store in person. I saw it the second day, and quickly cancelled the card, but it is scary that someone even had this info. Either two things happened - my card got stolen in a national breach then sold to someone locally, or someone locally got a copy of my card. It is like they have already moved past identity theft and are just skipping directly to stealing your cards.

They sell them by zip code so it wouldn't surprise me that it's local. They usually get the raw dump of the magnetic strip and just clone it on a new card.

Wife just had her credit card cloned. We got fraud alerts about charges over in Sterling Heights last week. The charges got denied and new card issued. But still a major pain in the rear. We think someone had a cloning machine at the drive thru or something. This is the second time something like this happened to her in the last 4 or 5 years. It happened to me once and I am almost positive I know the store where it happened. I stopped at that store on a Fri for some juice for my wife. Sun I was working the property when the bank called asking if I was charging stuff over in GR. I was like NO, cards are inside on my dresser and I have not left home all weekend..... So frustrating. Guy must have had a scanner under the counter when he went to swipe my card for the juice....
