I know little about this thing.
In the past I hooked the cable from the laptop to the TV, select input HDMI and then go.
TV had sound and video from the laptop.
I tried it again last night, no sound...
DVD has sound, TV on regular has sound.
laptop has sound, but it sucks to watch on the TV with tiny laptop speaker, and one blown...

Any ideas on why the sound would be MIA on the TV?

Try a different cable and check your HDMI port for damage or issues...

I'm not the brightest bulb in the box, but I did check the basics....
We have a TV here at work that I will test it on, that will possibly help determine if its the laptop/TV/HMDI cable.

I haven't used it in a while, wanted to the other night for a movie from a seminar, no sound....bummer

right click the little volume icon and go to playback devices, and to make sure your TV is selected :)
This!
Although it may say HDMI output or something of that nature. It may have auto selected in the past.

Also, the video drivers are what drives the sound for HDMI. A driver update may be needed if if it is no longer working. Both Nvidia and ATI have had issues off and on with releasing drivers too soon and not having the HDMI audio working right.

All I did was flip the cable from the laptop to the tv over and its working. Who the heck knows????....
Thanks for the tips though

Depending on how old the unit is Samsung had some serious HDMI compliance issues a few years back where they tried to do their own thing and failed miserably LOL

Might have been a HDCP issue. I have had that happen before...either you lose audio, video, or both because the TV didnt "approve" the device to connect to it.
