Has anyone ever snagged a used hottub on CL?

I'm looking to grab a cheap hot tub for the back yard.

Has anyone ever done this successfully? Did it cost a fortune in the long run to have it fixed?

My long term goal would be to buy a nice one if it gets used often.

Nothing but problems 95% of the time.

Rotten sides

Split hoses deep inside the foam

Bad pumps

And just plain FUNKY!

Neighbor went down that road, bought his neighbors tub. Ended up buying a new one and having the used one hauled away

Doesn't sound promising hahah

Its a lot like buying a used car. If its a good model to begin
with & has been well maintained, in good condition, you'll
be able to buy it for a fraction of what it cost new.

When I bought my house it had a nice huge Colman 8 person
hot tub the previous owner paid $8,500 for. I sold it for $2,000
as soon as I moved in.

There are many of these that are just fine that some folks just
don't want the hassle & cost to maintain, so they get rid of them.

So, just like a used car, do your research & inspect it carefully.

Agree with Anthony. You know some dude's DNA has been embedded in it. Bring a black light for inspection. lol

hahahaha....Thats all I can think of when I see hot tub.

If you want one, I'd buy new.
Do you go in the hot tub at hotels? If so, maybe used is ok for you.

I'm sure there are well maintained, well cleaned, nice and expensive hot tubs out there that can be snagged very cheap or maybe even free. As 4Gas$ mentioned, they are usually a PITA to remove.... some people just want a person to take them rather than pay to have it hauled off... be prepared to look at a lot of turds before you find a good one.

I bought a coleman portable 4 person new for 300, has a bubbler and heats up to 105 deg and put it in my spare room works awsome

Really... How many of your actually have hot tubs. They are simple devices. The biggest expense is the spa pack. Heater control system. Everything else is either pvc or spa flex pipe. They are easy as hell to fix. as for funkiness thye make a few chemicals that clean the pipes like spa purge and such. Like a Used car Running and driving is better but if the shell is OK everything else can be fixed.

I bought a Jacuzzi brand on Craigslist. It was in excellent shape and was virtually trouble free for many years. Had professional movers transport it.

I had one when I moved into this house. It was huge and worked awesome. Used it for several years and the circuit board went and I figured timing was right to get rid of it so I gave it away to a friend of a friend. Cost too much to have it hauled out.
