Anyone Have Experience with Powered Post Hole Diggers?

If your putting up chain link fence I would just use a post pounder on a steel post. I have one somewhere you can borrow or buy one for about $60 at tractor supply. I used steel post for a wooden privacy fence last year and it worked great, I put them down almost 40” though lol.

I don't even think they allow chain link in Grosse Pointe! They would probably cancel my park pass or something.

I will say, for future reference, that I couldn't agree more. Post pounders > sledge hammer for that type of work. Last year I put in a bunch of big ass tree stakes (we planted like 30 someodd 10' bare root trees) and T-Posts for our garden/farmyard area and the post pounder was well worth the $40 or so I paid.

I have a one man gas powered auger and some times it’s great but if you have a semi clean dirt the post pounder is excellent and quick.

Just want to bump this and give a plug for my fence guy (who was Camaromann's fence guy too!). He did a great job for me last year, and is doing some more fencing for me this year. He was doing it as side work last year (he was on contract to a builder to do fences), but he is doing it freelance this year. He has the coolest post digger and core drill too!

Thank you.
