GM to dump Heritage Collection

Honestly, look at the list, it isn't a shame at all that most of that stuff is getting sold off. They have a lot more cool shit in the collection that isn't on the list for sale. My opinion, 99% of the list is no big loss. They know what to keep and what they were holding on to that wasn't really worthy of keeping.

I'll take these:
2004 CTS Super V
2007 Tahoe Foose
Camaro LT5
Caprice "Fire & Rescue"
Corvette ZR 1 Snake Skinner

:) 2007 Yukon Denali Jay-Z (Blue)
CTS-VR Race Replica (black)
GTO Drag Performance Parts
900 Pikes Peak

GM needs to get off their asses once the crisis is over a build a museum. It's great that they have those cars, but not when the general public can't see them. Having a place that could generate revenue to keep the collection up keeps the colllection intact. Then they wouldn't have had to sell some of the '50's dream cars they made (and sold at B/J).

Chrysler has the Walter P. Chrysler Museum with a large part of the rotating collection housed at another facility. It's also where they handle any restoration that needs to be done. Ford does have the Henry Ford Museum, but they tend to keep show cars and such under corporate watch and then either destroy them or sell them off. WPC, if I remember correctly, gets minimal or less funding from the parent company because it's been able to fund itself.

Where is the "Heritage Center" located?

Just south of Metro Parkway, on the east side of Mound. Behind the newspaper plant in an industrial park. TTA and I got to see it when GM did the official announcment about the production of the Camaro. It was very cool. We were even allowed to bring our kids. Now they can say they got to see the collection. I never understood why it wasn't open to the public.

sad. :( I've been there, lots of cool stuff. They have lots of stuff on display that's not on the list though so...

I got to tour it back in 06. Their Idea of a "Tour" was a joke. They just opened
the doors and said "go look but don't touch". They never gave us any background info on any of the cars or anything.

they open it up to employees a few times a year. I can see why they don't open it to the general public. Nothing is roped off. Things are just kind of packed tightly in the one corner. The general public trashes everything you let them get close to. They'd have to cut down on the number of vehicles in there at any given time greatly to organize it in a manner that it would be ok to open it to the general public. The two times I was there the stock on display differed quite a bit. It was definitely worth it to go both times I went.

Could they even sell stuff like the V10 Vette or 4 Door Typhoon? Could you title and plate things that were never officially offered for sale?

They can sell things like that but I'm sure they would be under the terms that they were show/track pieces only and could not be titled and plated. Bondurant sold all of their Ford race cars when they switched to GM and all that stuff was sold as track only stuff. Although I do know of a Bondurant Crown Vic that the purchaser managed to get a certificate of origin for after buying it which allowed him to get a title and license it. If the vehicle was assigned a real VIN and GM provides the certificate of origin at the time of sale you would be able to title and license it. A lot of the cool stuff probably doesn't have a real VIN though.

there was just a 4 door typhoon that changed hands a few months ago, of the 3 known 4 doors they are all in private hands
