Garage Heater Question

You did not say whether you were heating your garage full time or just a occasional Saturday.
the radiant heaters tend to speed up rust on unfinished parts.
are you sure a gas line cannot be installed? too expensive? too far?
natural gas is far cheaper than propane.
the burner has to be so many feet from the floor. check with a furnace installer. i think its 8 or 10 feet. I have had one that was 6', but my furnace guy said it was not to code.

several other things you may not have thought about. some cities blow up satellite photos, and compare previous years, looking for additions, pools hot tubs etc, and check to see if you pulled a permit. I know this sound crazy, but its true. They especially look for class b gas vents and also look for adapters that are used when installing 90+% furnaces.

Part time heat, My personal choice would be a tube radiant, vented out the side of your garage, if you have enough height. they do get VERY hot and can damage items above & below it. just install it to spec. And buy a 20 dollar carbon monoxide detector/alarm.

Full time heat, hanging forced air.
