My email initially contained my name, brief contact info showing where I am located. I almost feel as if that email sent to me was a brush off.

Now that I read it over again, it does sound like canned auto response. Very generic reply

My Representative (Lady) sent a "Gone with the Wind" 200 word generic response with no answer to actual question on how she would vote if asked to. Fail
Her office did respond in 2 days though.

Dear Mr. Witt:

Thank you for contacting my office with your concerns regarding legislation to mandate front license plates on all vehicles. I appreciate having your input on this very important matter.

As you know, Senate Bill 654, introduced by Senate Minority Floor Leader Tupac Hunter, would require that all Michigan vehicles display license plates on the front of the vehicle as well as on the rear. This legislation was introduced as an attempt to make it easier for law officials to identify vehicles for crime reporting and safety purposes. Currently, 31 states have both a front and a rear license plate requirement. Michigan switched to a single license plate system in 1981.

Although relatively new, this legislation has received much attention from Michigan drivers. In the last week, my office has received many emails, phone calls and letters. At this time, this bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Transportation. Should this legislation come before me on the Senate floor, I will keep your thoughts in mind.

Thank you again for your correspondence. If you have any other questions, comments or concerns on any matters of state government, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
Sincerely,

John Moolenaar
State Senator

reply all....done.

Thank you for reaching out to me about SB 654. I appreciate when constituents take the time to share their views with me.

I, like you, do not believe that all cars in Michigan should be required to have a front license plate. My concern is that they would end up adding an unnecessary expense to drivers without a tangible benefit. I cannot justify voting for such legislation.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me about an issue that’s important to you. If you have any further concerns on this matter or others, please feel free to contact my office.

Sincerely,

Jim Ananich
