Ford to end NHRA Sponsorship at the end of 2014

Looks like they would rather support gay ass drifting cars off road racing and Ralley cars who no one gives a fuck about then to sponsor nitro funny cars. That's a disappointment but there gonna sponsor cobra jets which they make 50 a year and cost over $100000 to buy if your lucky to even get one. What a joke

All other forms of racing aside, you do realize trucks are THE bread and butter vehicles right? And like it or not, off-road truck racing exposure brings in sales.

NASCAR is where most of their sponsorship money is spent I believe.

And they build/sell Cobra Jets...they don't sponsor them.

unfortunately nitro funny cars dont cause people to go out and buy nitro funny cars. but gay ass drifting sells mustangs, and gay ass ralley cars sell fiestas. Maybe youre the only one who doesnt give a fuck...what was the last new ford you bought?

I'm not surprised. Seems like the last few years have been tough I'm the NHRA for the top fuel and funny car teams. It's a lot of money to run, and privateer teams without a boatload of money can't compete. Maybe Ford pulling out will level the playing field a bit more.

I did just spend 46000 on a new f150 and bought it not because of off road racing I bought it cause they build the best looking trucks. And as far as mustangs everyone I know who has one including myself who owns 2 of them have one cause of the influence of drag racing not because of drifting.

Im sure youre the minority in that group considering they have dozens of analysts in the marketing group who figure out sales based on all of the ford racing investments. But thanks for buying that truck!

It seems like the more grass roots drag racing has really become what people want to see. Even though it isn't on TV, the drag radial stuff and outlaw pro mod type stuff seems to have a bigger following these days than the NHRA. The Ford re-entry into Pro Stock has been a COMPLETE joke. It is unreal that it failed as hard as it did. And both funny cars and pro stock cars are so far out in left field on their looks at this point that I have trouble understanding why any manufacturer supports teams running those cars in the first place. Except for Tasca, man, that kid is like a human Ford commercial.

So you have the NHRA which is struggling because of the disconect to what is actually in show rooms, and rally racing and drifting which are growing audiences in the proper demographic. I don't see how you can step back, look at what is out there, and say, man, this is a dumb move. It is still surprising to see a solid 15+ year relationship between Ford and Force end though. Maybe Force will go back to the Oldsmobile body

Nhra is a sinking ship. Like or not. Their assbackwards thinking and total lack of decent TV coverage preempted/ delayed by woman's intermediate level hacky sack proves it week after week.

Ford was smart to jump from the sinking ship. Why else would you abandon the #1 team in funny car!

Hot rod had a interview with garlits a few issues ago. They asked him what he would do to fix the Nhra...... Look up his response...... It was perfect. The big names would hate it, but the fields would be huge. Driver and tuner would win races..... Not bank accounts every time

I haven't watched NHRA in years. I lost total interest when they went to 1000' and I'm not a fan of fuel cars. I use to watch for Pro-stock and stock, but the coverage is laughable. I understand the thought process of Ford stepping out. It's a bummer, but I'd rather them spend money where it will get more attention. Sucks for Tasca since a dealer/racer and a really nice guy. I've met him on a couple occasions and he's very down to earth. My Uncle has spent time with him in dealer meetings and has told me he is far from being a PHD (Papa Has a Dealership).

I think Tasca III might actually bleed Ford blue if you stuck him with a pin. He makes other huge Ford loyalists look like haters.
