Ford power train warranty coverage question

I have a 2013 escape with 52,000 miles on it. Seems the alternator is not charging anymore. Is the alternator covered under ford 60k powertrain warranty?

Thanks,
Ryan

I can tell you that from what I know working in prototype there - that is an electrical component, not powertrain. power train is engine, trans, etc. alternator is not powertrain but a dealer rep would probably be better suited to answer.

You might want to take it into the dealer, its new enough where you can most likely put up a fight and get them to help with the cost.

First of all, welcome back! It is true that sometimes, some
components that are "not covered under warranty" do indeed
get covered - but you are going to have to work on it, it might
just happen.

You have nothing to lose but a little time - go for it & let us
know how it turns out.

No I don't, I'm simply a "good consumer". I fight for the best value
for every dollar I spend. If I feel I received a poor value for my purchase,
I will petition the company to "make things right".

You would be amazed at how many companies will work to replace / repair /
refund an item - that was NOT under a warranty or guarantee.

Last year I complained to Michelin about a set of top-of-the-line tires that
were 4 years old that were "dry rotted". Tires had only had 4,000 miles
on them. There was no warranty on them after 4 years. I complained that
the tires should not have been in that condition after only for years.

Michelin agreed & replaced the tires covering 70% of the cost. I then bought
the replacement tires through Discount tire.

"You have not because you ask not" is a good rule to hold.

Squeeky wheel gets the grease.....

There is a thing called a "good will" and the dealer might supply the part if you buy the labor or pay a percentage. If you get a dead end at a dealer you can always call customer service. It might not be covered at all under the warranty but it is still VERY early in the vehicles life (age and mileage) for an alternator failure. That is a good point to stand on. Its not like its an Autozone duralast crap alt. Most new cars will go 100k without even a battery issue let alone an alternator. "Are these all having alt failures 2 years into ownership? At this mileage? Why mine? are all questions to ask
