I have been weight lifting for about a year now. I have gained about 15lbs of muscle, and have lost fat. I currently weigh 165lbs and am 6ft tall. I figure with the winter season coming up I can bulk up a bit and then cut again when spring comes.
My question is this...
What supplements do you guys like for gaining mass?

For a while I would use Muscletech's NaNO Vapor pre workout and the GNC's Wheybolic 60 after. I am now trying GNC's Mass XXX after workout. My diet is not the best, but I dont sit around and eat chips and drink pop all day either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd like to put on another 15 lbs this winter, but I am afraid I've peaked.

Might want to look into some shit the vitamin shop has to offer. Everything ive ever seen from GNC is super overpriced. I think some great basic supplements are Whey protein, Creatine, beta-alanine and a good multi-vitamin. If you are looking into more mass gainers there are a lot of pro-hormone type supplements out there, some are bad news others seem to be pretty safe. Check out the bodybuilding.com forums.

You can purchase mass quantities of protein and actually create your own mixture online through one site.. Let me dig it up!

GNC=NO

:hmm: it has been over an hour and Al has not logged into this workout related thread.... Are the Lions going to the Playoffs or something?

I was about 160lbs when I graduated high school, 175 up until a couple years ago. At 6 feet tall, I was always 'too skinny' and figured if I weighed 200lbs I'd be all set ;)

Screw supplements. Weight gainer shakes and everything are great but you're just ingesting a ton of sugar. Good way to get a gut. Just eat like a mother fucker.

I hit 200 after I started eating a ton. It's expensive, and you have to eat until you're going to puke. And keep eating. And do it 4 times a day. Ugh.

The worst part was, even though I was lifting and everything, I gained the weight too fast. It weighed me down. And of course it wasn't all muscle. No huge gut or anything, but it was a little soft.

Not to mention your clothes won't fit anymore.

I ended up settling back down to around 190 and I'm happy where I'm at. I feel better and look better, although I'd like to get bigger in the arms. Hell, who wouldn't? I'm trying to lift more and eat cleaner, so if it takes a long time, I'm fine with that.

It's pretty hard to NOT eat 6,000 calories a day after you have done it for 3 months. You just eat because you're bored, not because you're hungry. If you stop working out, you'll get fat, quick.

What I'm trying to say is don't set your goal at a certain weight. Two people can weigh the exact same, but due to their body type, look much, much different. Instead of going by the number on the scales, go by how you look and how you feel. That's far more important.

The only reason you should be concerned with your weight is if you have to be a certain weight to compete in an event, such as bodybuilding or boxing or wrestling.

Bottom line, just eat a ton more, rest a lot, and eat a lot if you want to get bigger. There's no magic tricks. Keep it clean, you'll notice weight in areas you don't want it, like your chin, tits and belly.

yea... what he said... dont get set on a number.... i wanted to drop to 175 (from 195) but in the process of weight lifting i dropped to 184 and went back up in muscle so im almost the same weight as i was before.... but its all muscle... so im not complaining... just keep working out and set a dimension for you arms/legs/waist and try to attain that.. youll be much happier and its less stressful IMO
