For Shaun ---- stock LS1 vs stock 2011 5.0

Hell.... if I could hook and spent some time in the track I'd be down there.... I'm trapping at 107 consistently.. I went 107.5 best MPH --- and my turd is STOCK.
 
i know im gonna get some shit for this but here i go........we all know a 5.0 is 302 cubic inches, and a ls1 is 346 cubic inches....sooo if that mustang had a 347 stroker kit like many pushrod guys do, do you think it would be the same race? i know it wouldnt be a stock motor vs. a stock motor anymore, but atleast the cubic inch would be within 1 instead of 44....either way, both motors are impressive for what they are

im not disagreeing with you one bit, but....how much faster do you think it would go with JUST the stroker kit, same compression, same cam, same heads, same intake, same rockers, same tune, EVERYTHING. the reason i say that is because its very rare to find someone that will open an engine up, do a stroker and not throw in a better cam, maybe some better heads or a valve job and some port work on the stockers or something. so with matching cubes, and the factory parts in the engine. it might still be a good race. i dont know FOR SURE. whats everyones opinion on this?
 
Comparing current production cars to out of production models is gay. Why not just bring out a 1969 COPO Camaro then and have it spank the new 5.0?

I think whats even sadder than a 2002 Camaro hanging with a 2011 Mustang is the fact that the 2011 Camaro cant hang with the 2002 Camaro...talk about progress

You know what they have a bullseye pasted over up in the conference room we did all of our 5.0 engine meetings? Not the Camaro...from the get go, Ford has been looking to make the Stang into a solid competitor for the M3.

I bet that this guys new 5.0 hands his SS its ass on a roadcourse

No doubt in my mind. I do personally want to see a built Mustang and built Camaro tackle it on a road course, but we all know then it comes down to driver more than anything else.



As far as 2011 models... I'd take a 2011 GT over a 2011 SS ANY day. And I work at a Chevy dealer. :(

i give alot of props to the new mustangs. im a chevy guy, own an ls1 camaro, BUT i still respect the new mustangs. it seems the ford guys cant do the same, and it cracks me up.

that said, dont you think if that camaro had nitrous on it it would beat that mustang by a little more than half a car to a car length? i mean come on. sprayed ls1's go bottom 12's high 11's all day.

IndyZ28 ran high 12's in his bone stock, Scott did also along with a million other people lol. They are easily mid to high 11's all day. Murph's white LS1 SS had a 4.10, slicks and nitrous with no exhaust and ran 11.50's-11.70's.

I'm glad to see the HP game coming back because all it does is make each brand better and increases the horsepower year after year. Who would of thought a V6 camaro would have over 300 hp?? The new GT's are definately impressive but I think they're still playing the "catch up" game. Ford's got the technology, they just need to use it. The 03/04 Cobras were a good example of this. I know a lot of small cube cars that make more power than my car, or big cube cars that make less, it's what they decide to do with those cubes that makes a difference. What would you rather have, a 302 Fox body, or a 305 camaro?? I'd rather have the Fox body :gr_jest:

Maybe we build the 347 stroker for the mustang, And then give the camaro 3 more cams?

Not being a puss, but almost every weekend until August is booked solid due to our wedding coming up, other weddings to attend, and buying a house at the same time. :) We'll make it happen tho, I've got nothing to lose. We'll see how much truth there is to this video! :D
