re: alot of work

right now the two of us have probaly around 150 hrs total since we drove the car in tha garage, it is a challenge, wich is the fun stuff. we are trying to do as much fab work we can do ourselves since we are on a tight budget

by the way watchin your progress lookin good

Are you guys welding that with a gasless mig or some thing... Looks like a harbor freight 90 amp 110v junkier.. If you are using that I suggest you stop and get a real welder or this will prob happen

re: welder

actually its a clarke 125 amp mig it just has flux core in it right now, have a different welder to weld cage, using the clarke to tack everthing. have a snap on 140 amp mighty mig with tank to finish everything up. Besides according to lincoln and miller both say you can get better penetration with flux core figured it would be good to tack and do some welding on the chassis

why are you doing that when you can buy my rolling big tire mustang for 3000... lol keep up the good work one way to learn to fab i guess is get in there and do it.

re big tire for 3000

we didn't plan to do the car this way. its a t-top car and had some rot in the floor, well it was alot worse then we thought. The whole drivers side was gone and thanks to the burnout(s) we did when we first got the car the drivers side rocker was cracked all the way around. And really we don't have alot of money in this car, less than two grand which includes purchasing the car and chassis, two fe engines and a 9"inch rear. we sold the old drive train so we are doin pretty good keepin the cost down thankx for everyone encouriging words:smokin:

re what is FE

FE's are a group of ford engine(FE=Ford engine or ford edsel) made from 1958 -1976. INcludes 330, 352, 390, 406, 427 and 428 cu in engines. loosely based on the y-block engines of the fifties. They are damn near bullit proof. capable of six hundred plus hp on a stock block. Weight wise they fall between the 302's and 460's 100# heavier than a 302 but about 100# lighter than a460. aftermarket has grown greatly in the last 5 yrs so cost has come way down. one of the mgazines biult a428 FE and a 427 windsor the fe cost less and had about 15 mor hp and about twenty more ftlbs of torque.

really like the project, ive been trying to convince foxbodydave to do the same.. he has a really nice 400 cube FE beggin to find its way into a mustang

you can get a kit to do the swap sme price as 460 swap. headers are the expensive part 700, a stick 4x4 truck pan and new mounts. its alittle tight on the headers, for 400 you can get the weld it yourself header kits

400 cube?
