ok i have a 06 F-250 turbo diesel 6.0 motor with about 170000 miles. now today after work i went to my truck an started a usual....turned the key to on position, started and let warm up to 118 degrees now i put the truck into drive and step on the gas and a huge amount of white smoke with a hint of blue comes streaming out of the exhaust pipe. now after about 5 miles or so it stops.

so called a few friends and they said it could maybe be
1. the turbo leaking oil and burning off
2. intake man gasket leaking and sucking up oil
3. water in fuel (also note there is a 1/8 tank of fuel) im hoping for this

otherwise the truck is running fine and all seems normal. engine temp is ok, oil temp is ok, trans temp is ok, no antifreeze in oil, and boost is normal max 28-30 psi on full throttle (i have banks six gun tuner usually set on 2 econ mode)

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

Egr cooler, get it fixed pronto and save some $$$ if you let it go too long it gets very expensive. Would also be a good time to do head gaskets and studs

i think he did gaskets and studs already.....90% sure
if he is looking for someone to do the cooler or better yet a delete, bandit can take care of it at his place. I work on these motors all the time and a delete is a good way to go.

well i have been looking on the net and i have noticed on thing that i didnt want to see..... i have noticed that the degas bottle has been overflowing but at the time i thought it was maybe from rough roads and it splashing up.... how much for the delete kit put in you think???

If the degas bottle is filling up thats not a good, check the cooland and see if it smells like fuel. Could be leaking injector cups or a crack in the head behind the cup alowing fuel into the coolant. You need to have sombody check it out. A delete kit is between $300-400 and labor can vary from shop to shop.

If the degas bottle has been overfilling, you have bad head gaskets. I am in the same boat as you, and am doing head studs, egr delete and other little things this spring.

Make sure you have your heads checked for cracks, a bad headgasket will put prasure in the system but a cracked head around the injector cup will put fuel in the coolant and overflow.

its not that its filling up its that the coolant is being boiled due to the egr gone bad and blowing out through the degas bottle also the exhaust gasses pushing on it. if any one here had one done how much was it? or if you did it yourself how had was it and how long did it take? (im very mechanically inclined and have done all my own auto repairs in the past) oh and coolant dosent smell like fuel

to note that it is not a constant issue.... it only happens when first started and running for a few miles then it seems to go away, not completely. only comes back when idling for a long time but when driving on the highway its as if nothing is wrong no smoke or anything

another note is that i have noticed that the oil temp has hit 220 while the engine temp is at about 185-190 it has never had that much of a gap. it was always around maybe 5-7 degrees.

also will driving it the way it is till sunday hurt it?
Ive seen coolers blow out completely and hydra lock. The delete retails for around $350 and probably about a 6 hour job if you never done one, you have to remove the turbo ,oil filter housing , injector harness and intake. The economy kit has a plug/disc to block the ex pipe and the upgrade kit has a new pipe without the egr outlet. If you buy the victor intake set you get everything you need and then some.

350?!?!?!

I paid 100 for my delete kit and it took me about 2 hours start to finish to put it in.

If you want buy the kit, and I'll help you put it in or I can give you the take out EGR cooler from mine, which is a dealer replaced unit and in good shape...
