Dodge Demon

OK. I see what you're saying. It will save you if you're a dumbass and try to run high boost with crap fuel. I was thinking it was more like my old Daytona. Dumbass=destroyed engine if you flip the switch with the wrong fuel. More user friendly but still seems like it would be easier if they set it up for E85. Dunno?

I am trying to get my dealer to put E85 on my Camaro. The Camaro PCM has the E85 tune in it, you just need to add the sensor and enable it. Dodge could have done the same thing and enabled the sensor. They would have to put one monster of a fuel system in that car, though, to make 850 hp on E85. That is garden hose size fuel lines and MASSIVE pumps.

I was looking for a high 9. Still crazy fast but kind of disappointing after all the hype. What are some members on here doing with stock hellcats on a tire?

Yeah it's fast but I was expecting to see a 9 second time also. Well, just like some of the Hellcat people have run a couple tenths faster than the published number, I'm still saying they ran a 9.96 somewhere. Chrysler's musclecar historical reputation is understate and under-rate, and carry a big stick! In other words, they publish a conservative number so there are no disappointments.

I looked at that video in HD on an actual monitor (as opposed to a phone). There's no way you can read the ET or the speed on that time slip. It was very intentionally made unreadable. Anyone claiming a time is grasping at straws.

everything will be announced tomorrow, can't wait, than all the mysteries will be over.

I am sure low 10s, won't be out of the question, that should be very respectable you would think

1023 HP is the rumor...

I wonder what the 3/36,000 warranty will cover? and if it runs into the 9's, will it need a cage?

Crazy! 1,000 hp for a production vehicle is amazing. The flares are ugly, but I can respect all of the cool features and power.

I also wonder about about the warranty.

I would hope with 1,000 HP it would go in the 9's, but like you wonder if it will require a cage. I know at some point there were talks about powerful production cars and allowing them to run without a cage if there were no aftermarket modifications.. Not sure why happened with that, because I've been out of the loop for a while.

I've never found evidence that actually happened. The fast, stock car not needing a cage to run what it will run out of the box thing.

people are going 10.50s in hellcats without an issue, so is it the 9.99 sec barrier that could be a roll cage issue? since I am sure this car does that

yes, 9.99 or faster, and/or 135 mph and faster.....old NHRA post i dug up...

"9.99 1/4-mile (6.39 1/8-mile)/ 135 mph or quicker:

-Roll cage is required on all vehicles at 9.99 and quicker or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of a minimum o.d. mild steel or chrome moly tubing (moly can be a smaller o.d and is lighter but more expensive), see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position, see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must also be certified by NHRA every 3 years and have a serialized sticker affixed prior to participation. This style of cage is good til 8.50 1/4-mile times, then a funny car style cage is required."

What did Pat run in his Sky? LOL

There is a difference between what is technically allowed and what is allowed in practice. The Demon will be technically illegal whether any track chooses to enforce it or not is the question.

This has been done before but not "from the dealer floor" My SRT4 ACR had Stage 3 from Mopar and with it Turbo Toys. It has a "race fuel" button specifically for suing 100 octane unleaded. It added 50 hp to a 300 hp motor. Lowered ET several 10ths. I could see this method on the Demon adding 100 hp easily. I too wish it were E85 as the power would no doubt be greater but 100 unleaded is the safe way for an OEM. Makes I more "race car".

Mustang svo had a "premium fuel" switch on the console.

Upped boost and timing when on. Made a huge difference in how the car ran
