Dodge Demon

So the 840 hp number is on the 100 Octane tune...up from 818 hp on the 91+ Octane tune according the pics is a previous post? Hmmmmm.

My Chrysler buds are telling me that the 840 number is still on the low side.

I think it would look 10000 times better if ya pulled the front fender extensions and just ran the skinnies..... I could live with the rear ones being left on....

I was just going to post the same thing. The car doesn't look bad with 315's on all 4 corners but when you put the skinnies on it looks terrible with the fender flares.

Dislike the flares. My only complaint. I agree on pulling the front ones off for skinnies.

The hype was worth it. The rumor of 9.96 was impressive.....but it's even faster. I can't wait to see them in the wild.

This is an example of why I think Dodge is just dangerous. Most of their expertise left the company and they are left with a bunch of newbs with no long term consequences. Some of the hurdles that I heard they had to overcome:

1. Using a tire that is part of the supply base, no new sourcing. Toyo / Nitto instead of Mickey Thompson.
2. Adding fender flares to cover the wide front tires, the skinnies wouldn’t pass NHTSA testing and the reason they can only offer the wheels.

Hats off to them, it’s just a badass car.

Am I the only one that wants to take it to Grattan with the 315 Nittos still mounted on all 4 corners? LOL

I'd imagine you would have to do some suspension work first because the suspension has to be setup for straight line performance.....not going around turns.

Im not a mopar fan at all. Never have been, never will be. But this is refreshing to see a OEM actually paying attention to what a good portion of people want! Seeing them just take all the things that every other OEM would run from and put it out on the line say.."we can do that" is just an awesome thing. Kudos to Dodge. GM and Ford both are going to feel the affects of this in the "performance" aspect. It may of taken dodge awhile to get into the mix of OEM vs OEM..but way to come out swinging for the fence. They've taken everything the other 2 OEM's tuck their tails between their legs with and put it on a OEM car. Again, Awesome.

soo whos buying one?

I'd like to but I don't have any connections. I imagine they may be inobtainable without a huge fee. Maybe not. FCA has a ton of desirable cars coming out with different focuses. Hellcat Grand Cherokee, 392 Durango, Widebody Charger, and whatever improvements with 2018 in general. I'm not sure how many performance buyers there are for all that. Demon is a one trick pony but still a halo car. Hugely desirable just for bragging rights for some. Personally I'd race the crap out of the thing, keep it stock throughout the warranty and be an ambassador for the breed. 9.65 is Dodges BEST time. It will take effort just to repeat that. Eventually that time too will fall.

I agree. If you are a drag racer this car would make you jump brands. I don't care how cool it looks, how rare it is, or all the marketing metrics. All I can think about is rolling to the burnout box and going through all the rituals, discovering all the best methods to get the ET. Over and over again. With factory backing. Crazy!

BTW, I'd get one in F8 Green, no back seat or passenger seat and would probably cage it once the fab guys figure out the cleanest set up. I like the idea of loosing the front fenders. Would give it that "widebooty" look that looks good on the Corvettes (to me). Not that I've thought about much. LOL

Did they ever say a top speed? Is it gear limited or with the 8 speed in a brick is it drag limited?

The regular Hellcats will run about 200 mph but not sure if this has better or worse aerodynamics. My guess is worse. But heck, it runs 140 in the quarter, that's all I really need to know.

Even my lowly Scat Pack is supposed to run about 180 top end, which it will never come close to seeing.
