Dad's Current Project

Wow! That's a helluva find! You would think to some collector that thing would have to be worth a decent amount when restored. Also be cool just to have and show and get to tell people the story when they ask what the deal is if you leave the Daytona winner lettering on it.

Thanks, I hope it's worth a fortune in the future. If it's not, not biggie, I just wanted to have the car to enjoy it. My biggest dilemma with the car is how to restore it. I know it should be restored to stock, but I like to drive my cars and really want to build a stroker for it. I figure if I don't cut the car it's ok and can be changed back. But the purists will give me crap. Too bad I guess lol.

How's your dad's car coming? When is he hoping to have it done? Keep me posted, I love builds like this.

Old Thread BUMP

Brad,

I know the pics above are not valid anymore, but how is your dads project coming along?

Regards Matt

Funny thing, work had blocked 1320video but then unblocked it, but for some reason the gallery pages are still blocked, but the pictures themselves are not. Which prevents me from actually posting more pictures at the moment, however if you click the original link there are newer pics in that gallery. Those are from July. I'll take some more at Christmas when I'm back there again.

He's got that all finished off and smoothed out now, I'll try to get some more, those are just the ones I stole off mom's memory card when I was getting the pcis of the Cobalt off
He's been working on the shaker induction system too. He's got it so the air comes in through the scoop, gets filtered and feed the engine AND keeps all the water off the filter and drains it.

Badass project! you and your dad really know what hot rodding is all about

I've seen that Daytona winged car posted here before, maybe right after you bought it efisixpack

I took the pics dad said he just hadn't gotten around to yet. Here you can see what's going on under the shaker a little better, from the scoop the air (and water) is routed back, the channel around the filter keeps the water off the filter but the air can still get to the filter

Coil covers in progress, dad made it out of fiberglass

The smoothed out under hood area and closed off radiator support

very cool project, top notch work. Love the shaker hood and the modern engine throwback.

But have to say im not a fan of the body extension though. The low hanging bodies are exactly what i dont like about the new challenger.... just looks bulky. Im curious to see how it turns out though.

Wow, that really looks great. That is probably the nicest custom fit shaker set-up I have seen on any car. I hope you are wise enough to absorb all the info you can from him. He sure has a lot of talent to share with you!

I'd love to come see the car sometime. If he's ever up for a few free beers with a fellow mopar guy let me know.

My parents come up for dream cruise every year. We go to lots of stuff during the week they are here. WDC, usually hit Bakers, and it seems like on of the Thursday night things at the Chrysler museum always lands during the time my parents are here too. So I can definitely let you know what's up and we can get together while they are here.
