"Cry"slur makin head lines again

So you think they're drinking at Auburn Hills, but not at the Ren Cen or Dearborn? And we're supposed to take you seriously?

Uh oh, Swifster is in the house. I suppose you took a plant tour once and now you are prepared to do a doctoral thesis on lean manufacturing?

Get over yourself Grandpa. I left out Auburn Hills because the corporate HQ of Fiat SpA is in Turin.

Chrysler is a shit company that should have been vaporized twice if not for benevolent Uncle Sam. End of story.

Dont be sorry. Chrysler is junk. For almost any new vehicle they make, Ford or GM makes something better in every aspect. Anyone who argues with that is out of their mind. RAM vs F150? 200 VS Fusion? The Town & Country is kind of bad ass, but its still a Chrysler. Put a cap on a F150 and call it a day, make the kids ride in the bed with the tailgate down on the highway...rear seat DVD entertainment will be the last of their worries.

Some people have had zero problems with Chrysler and I get that, if I was that person, I'd be playing the lottery.

In regards to the video, its mind blowing how people take a good job like that for granted in the economy, regardless of who its for.

Jeep GC > Ford Explorer
Chrysler minivans > the rest
And if you want a RWD 4 door sedan? Where's Ford on that one?

Chrysler's had their problems, but they are on the rebound in a big way.

Fiat doesn't own more than 50% (yet). And even then, they are thinking of moving the entire corporate offices to Auburn Hills. And this time going thru this mess wasn't their doing (1980, well....). People involved in draining the rainy day piggy bank are in Germany. Bitch at them.

Oh, and lean manufacturing has nothing to do with asshats drinking on the job. Fire the bastards.

I love the Union slappies argument that the white collers do it too, thats theyre only argument...unfortunately, us white collar folks arent assembling precision components. Its just like how I wouldnt want a doctor to operate on me after slamming a few cold ones...

However, your normal finance MBA probably wont have his excel skills diminished by a beer or two with his burger at the local lunch spot

the couple chrysler products i had long term were great cars! '86 dodge lancer 2.2 that i owned for 5yrs and '98 cherokee i had for around 4-5 years, both were very reliable

You've obviously never owned a Chrysler huh?

I'm enjoying my first Chrysler product newer than a 1971. For what it is (2010 Caliber), I'm very happy with it. My parents are on their third minivan and the first two were over 150K before they were sold. My mom's '05 GCV has 110K on it. Trouble free. My sister has a '04 GC Laredo and it's a great truck. My uncle bought a new 2007 300C and it has 40K trouble free miles.

My family never discriminated between the brands. We've had Chrysler products, Ford products and GM products. My dad even had a couple air cooled VW's ('68 Bug & '74 Thing). My dad also probably had the only 1980 Chevy Citation that was never recalled. The only car that I recall ever giving us problems was the '74 Thing because of the fuel injection system would vapor lock. The new Chrysler products are fine.

Reread my post further up. Those guys need to be fired. No excuses. If it happens with a white collar guy, I hate to say it's different, but it is. They still have businessmen's lunches. Many companies are banning this but it still happens. Hell, it happens in the insurance business (I'm not a big drinker so I don't).

I really wanted a Shelby Lancer, but it was too expensive. That and the Dodge dealers wouldn't deal on them. I ended up with an '86 Escort GT. That was a great little car.

My father has driven nothing but Chrysler his entire life. Now I can't speak 100% for him, but our family minivans were great, he LOVED his New Yorkers, his Imperial was a pile of shit, his first 300M was probably the best car we've owned and his current 300M has been pretty good, except for an ongoing automatic headlight sensor problem.

Myself, I've owned a few.

My first car was an 89 Plymouth Acclaim LE turbo. Quick, fun little car that I got with 150k on it, and my little brother totalled with 225k on it. Never had a single problem, other than rust on the trunk around the roof rack.

Then I had a 1991 Dodge Dakota. Bought it used with 60k. Totalled it 3 years later with 160k on it. The only thing I ever did was change the oil and the brakes. Ran perfectly. 3.9 V6

Currently driving the SRT8, and it's been perfect for me. Cheap interior, but everything else I love.

Wife is driving a 2011 Hemi Ram... surprisingly, the newest vehicle has been a bit of a letdown. Great styling, awesome engine, but there's already rust on the chrome bumpers, and it's on it's 3rd recall (I think). Power steering line, rear pinion seal, and something else...

I'm not brand loyal at all. I will drive what I want if it's a good vehicle. My wife obviously believes in supporting her employer..... but I've owned two Toyota pickups, a Mitsubishi/Chrysler (Conquest), a Chevy Camaro, Ford Tempo, Jeep GC SRT8, Jeep Cherokee Sport, Dodge Stratus, Dodge Dakota, Ford Ranger, Ford Mustang, etc, etc...

No, you're just designing/engineering them..... which is even worse. I'm with Raj, every place I've ever worked would throw you out on your ass if you came back to work smelling like alcohol or weed. That's the way it should be.

Lets face it, this stuff goes on everywhere, in all fields... but you have to have a pretty big set to be a union boss, and actively claim you had no clue the same vehicles show up at the same time every day.... IN YOUR PARKING LOT!

Not jocking the UAW, or unions in general but that's just pathetic...

i just hope that these people are put to pasture, and examples set, its going to boil down to random screenings and breathalyzers at the work place, and that's not fair for those of us who do treat the work place in a professional manner.

I can pretty much guarantee that nobody above the 1st floor at Dearborn or the RenCen is going out at lunch everyday and sparking one up.

Even if they were, it's a dubious comparison. Every day the executives at the Big 3 go through the list of maimed hands, severed fingers, broken legs that result from workplace injuries on the floor. Sparking one up, downing a 40 oz. and operating a press with 100,000 pounds of force is a little more dangerous than two cocktails before you go back to the accounting desk.

My point is it happens in more then just the factory jobs, and second I would beg to differ that it does not happen in dearborn, my mother retired from working in a area over there and she still talks about how managers and up would go out for so called business lunches and basically get drunk on the company. They would drive a company car back from the resturant which is dangerous also, she has even told me about times that certain people there have been caught by the police and because ford is big in dearborn they would just allow someone to come get them instead of arresting them.

I worked at Chrysler for 13 years (at JNAP for six months as engineering support, and primarily at Plymouth Road and Auburn Hills as an engineer until 2008). I could tell stories for hours. It goes on at all of the big three...don't kid yourself....on the line, in the parking lot, etc.

I've been verbally threatened by a Union employee and dealt with Labor Relations and the Union Steward, and after documenting this guy's bullshit for over a year....NOTHING happened to him (even after other Union guys gave statements supporting me). I was forced to continue to work with him even after he had already been suspended twice for two weeks without pay and should've already been fired. It's almost impossible to get someone fired (especially without getting your own ass kicked). Not sure if it's any different lately as I'm no longer there.

Execs are so busy that they barely have time to breathe, so if you think they're out getting hammered or high, you're kidding yourself. They bascially give up their lives for the company or a program. I can't speak too much for middle management folks, but I have seen guys at my level have one or two at lunch. Personally, I think it should be zero tolerance for EVERYONE.

There is no perfect car or manufacturer. They all have issues.

When I worked at Ford, I dealt with my fair share of those who drank at lunch... people within our group (IT), people we helped (engineers) and the union millwrights (by far the worst). It happens everywhere, in every job field.

See keyword "ALMOST" any new vehicle. ;) RWD 4 door sedan? I'll take a Taurus SHO instead. I have nothing bad to say about Jeep, I've had good experience with them. Though, I'm interested to see how the new JGC air suspension holds up with some miles on it. I have nothing against Chrysler personally, but after driving literally thousands of their new vehicles I would not buy one in a million years. Everything on them is just made cheaper. Everything is smaller, thinner, weaker. I can't tell you how many RAM's I drove where the dash rattled with 5 miles on them. Like I said, some people have good luck with them, your probably one of those few people. With that being said, lets go to Vegas and you can play with my money.

That's a reasonable thing to tell consumers. "Our cars only use Mattel-grade plastic and routinely have industry worst interiors because of someone else. Don't blame us."

I've gotten stuck in some real shitbox rentals in my days, whether it be a base model Toyota Yaris or a Hyundia Sonata, and nothing compares to the laughably bad materials quality in most Chryslers. I don't spend a lot of time in them, but I've driven the 300C, SRT-10, Magnum, Challenger, etc. Listening to my friends that are designers at Chrysler is like listening to a kid explaining why his class project sucks so bad to rationalize his embarrassment. Any time you constantly have to attach a caveat like "for what it is" or "for the time we had", that means your car sucks.

Everyone has known this behavior exists since the 70's, it has given Detroit & auto workers a bad name - it's time to take out the trash, get rid of the POS workers and find someone that takes pride in what they do. Worst part is the UAW protects these POS

Plain and simple, these guys don't deserve their jobs. The guy they caught drinking before work needs to be off the road for good, considering he hasn't had a valid license since '93. I'm sure the UAW will step right in and deploy some smoke and mirrors to make Fox 2 and the non-union people look like asses, and somehow let these guys keep their jobs.

These are the same guys that are more likely to cause an LTA or other major accident, so they get no remorse from me.
