Hey Dirty when are we getting the diesel for the Ford's?

They sound wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than gas engines i.m.o
To each his own I guess. Minus the sound of the turbo which is sweet, kinda just sounds like blowing air??
...crickets here....
The diesel will come right after the 3.5L Twin Turbo that should have close to 300+hp and 400ft-lbs of tq

It's going to be interesting to see what the DI engines do to the diesel market.

Is DI really worth 10-20% of a fuel economy gain?
My cubemate just got back from Germany where he had a 3 Series diesel for a rental and he loved it.
I've ran both of them there nice.. thats all I'll say.
Not just ecomonmy but huge gains in power output ability for the same rated fuel. I'm talking high compression turbo engines making huge power per cubic inch on basic fuels.
Even with that it will be a fad for a lil and eventualy diesel will still take over passanger car and light duty here I.M.O
Power per gallon of fuel is best in the diesel field period.
You ran the "eco-boost" but NOT the 2010 dieselS.Come by sometime and ill show you.
Agreed, I just still have a heard time believing the Americans will actually want to buy diesels. After the early 80's diesel that ruined the entire business, Americans still think Diesels are loud, dirty and inefficient.
A diesel engine is 35% more efficient than the a gasoline engine. It's just going to be hard to break the mindsight of millions of Americans.
Hell even in this thread there is a mention of black smoke, today's passenger car diesels DO NOT smoke. Sure if you have a ridiculous turbo-exhaust, or tune it will smoke. Black smoke is bad, black smoke means unburnt fuel. In todays economy the automakers can't afford to sell a car that smokes from the factory.
Buy diesel! If I could find a new DD that was a reasonable car I would be all over it. But that last thing I need is a 8,000lb truck to tote around.
And Scooter, yes the 330 & 335d's are awesome cars. They are little economic torque monsters. If I recall correctly the US will be getting the 330d here soon.
lol, um when I was at XXX we did the break-in and intial cylinder head development on the new diesel.. I played with it before you guys even seen it.:bigthumb:
If you don't recall I lost my job over posting a lil insider crap about it on here.
E85 is a fad as well and a stupid selling gimick when it comes to production cars stuff.. It makes good power in performance apps. but is not practical at all in everyday use over diesel fuels.
