The misses and i took one on sunday and it was sweet... I'd recommend taking one to everyone who hasn't already and is interested. We took it at Action Impact and all the instructors were very informational and willing to help my girl because she had never fired a gun before. It was a lot different than i thought it was going to be and now the she isnt afraid to handle a gun and is actually excited about owning one and has bugged me to go shooting twice already. Thats all... I'm pretty geeked about it so I figured I'd let everyone know... If anyone is interested send me a pm. One of the instructors is a friends brother's partner. My friend signed us up so i dont have a number now but i can get it.

Awesome. Now get her out on the range as much as you can. Then take more advanced classes. Then go out to the range more. Practice, practice, practice.

Thats the place that is doing the 99$ class right now isnt it???
I need to get this done asap, even though I dont own a handgun yet....lol
Soon enough though...

Nothing wrong with waiting to get your CPL before you buy a gun. Hell, it's a hundred times easier to buy a gun when you have one!

:werd: I took my class before I owned my first handgun. Just like Rob said, it makes it much easier to go purchase your handgun if you already have your CPL

she is geeked about shooting but the gun i bought her has a lot more kick to it than i anticipated so her hands are pretty sore right now, she has an hammerless airlite .38 revolver which is perfect for her to carry when needed due to its size and weight but she said that after about 50 rounds it really started to hurt. i shot it also and it felt like a harder kick than my .45

yea the class was $99 but then there was ammo, for the two of us i paid $275 altogether... there were two classes in one but all of the instructors were the same. the place was a little far of a drive but well worth it, there is a huge selection of handguns and accessories if you are in the market or just want to look... also the owner is normally there at the classes and he is retired military, retired police, and now a lawyer so he is very helpful when asking about gun laws
Has anyone trained with Jim or Doreen at Detroit Arms in Chesterfield?
They are friends of mine.

ive been in there a couple times because its only 10 minutes from my house when i was looking for my gun and i kept an eye on their website but they werent advertising any new classes recently and this came along so i jumped on it
Congrats , now practice till it hurts my life may depend on you someday or visa versa :buds:
hopefully i never have to fire this cannon and even more than that i hope she never has to fire hers at anything more than a piece of paper... but ive got your back

I can imagine, I have an ultra-lite .38 and you get a sore spot in your palm after 50 rounds!

I think that is where I took mine in Jan this year. Was in a hall in Monroe, and the shooting range was outdoors like a 20 drive from the hall.....:headscrat Took me 5 months to get it, but you can check the status online

it definally surprised me and the instructors who also shot it. ive got a glock 30 and the kick was about the same but different... the .38 was a sharp hard hit where the .45 is a blunt hard hit

Ya, that sounds like this class. Remember, the 5 month wait
had nothing to do with the class, the wait depends on your
county - & yours sounds like Wayne.

so is that the average amount of time it takes to get your cpl in the mail? 5 months? i live in wayne county and i will be taking my class in a couple weeks

wow, they definately make you wait, i guess i will have to be patient, even though that seems lie an awful long time
