CPL class

I got mine in a month or so, I was expecting worse based on what everyone was saying but Oakland county was on top of things.

For sure you should take a register CPL course before buying a gun.
If you have not had military training you should take a CPL or shooting class
before owning any weapon.
Oakland and Macomb are both very good now. Shall issue counties.

Yea. Tell it to the asshole p.d.'s who don't obey the state law. I live in Pontiac and they suck to deal with. They are conveniently open to do gun business 3 days a week during several hours in the middle of the business day when you
can't leave work. Unless you show up just before or just after lunch time when
the door may be closed as well. There are many cities still operating this way.
The last gun I bought I ended up mailing the RI-60 to them and I couldn't care less if they filed it or not. The fuckers refused to take it when I took it in there.
THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE FORM FROM ME. I am a CPL in good standing.

Which brings up a good point, why do they have the gun board?

For a Good reason and I'm glad!

They are there as a precautionary measure to make sure that guns don't get in to the wrong hands even if you passed your CPL course.

Let me give you an example. The woman in front of me was asked a question: "have you ever been convicted of a felony?"

She says "no"

"how about any domestic violence incidents?"

"Yes, about 3 years ago I chased my boyfriend with a kitchen knife and was arrested."

"Ok Thank You, you are being denied a license to carry."

what? why?

"You can go now ma'am."

They do background checks and all that shit beforehand.

The gun board doesn't run the checks. They just look your file over and tell you yes or no. The point is that it's not up to them, it's up to whether you qualify or not, they don't need to waste 5 peoples time to get together once every month to give out CPL's. You either qualify or you don't.
