What was it impounded for?

no plates,insurance,registration, etc. i bought a new truck at like 8pm then had to be at school at 6am. well there was absolutely no other way to get to school other than drive my truck. so i did and once i pulled up to school the sheriff pulled me over, he took my drivers liscense and then called the wrecker. he said he would cut me a break and not write me a ticket because i was trying to get to school. so i got the truck outta impound and got all my plate,insurance,registration,etc. so i think im in the clear..?

okay so long story short about 2 days ago i got my truck impounded, no tickets were issued or anything. i got it out of impound. will any of this show up on my record or cause my insurance to increase? lmk plz.

your car being impounded will not show on your record.

I asked my buddy in the auto-theft unit who said if you need the vehicle re-tagged legally you need to contact the SOS. They will advise you where to go and handle the paperwork so you will be in the clear.

Kind of a random question, but I'm facing a road trip this weekend without a working radio... Is there anything I could get pulled over for if driving with earphones in listening to my ipod? Seems I've heard a long time ago that you could but I can't really see why since turning your car radio up loud would IMO prevent you from hearing things outside the car just as effectively.

i have a ticket question that i hope you can help me with.


my girlfriend got a ticket in the mail for something that i did while driving her car. she was at work at the time and i says right on the ticket that the driver was a man. if she takes this to court is there anyway she will lose?

if the cop would have pulled me over and ticketed me, i would not fight it i would just pay the fine. i just don't understand how you can ticket someone for something they clearly did not do.

If you do this don't do as I did, I was driving with my new iPod earplugs in and couldn't figure out why the music didn't get quiter when I adjusted the radio, even turning it off and I still heard the music. Should have been pulled over for having a "blonde moment".

you can ticket the registered owner of a vehicle for certain things, ie a parking ticket.

if you go to court with your GF they can prob re-issue the citation in your name.

couldnt find anything specific on this in the Michigan Motorvehicle Code. MSP or a local could write you for something under some type of "catch all" like careless but you would really have to be doing something in addition to just using your headphones. Now that being said, there could also be a local law prohibiting the use of headphones while driving in the city/town you pass through....just like some cities prohibit the use of cell phones while driving.

This is a two fold situation.

1. The idiot open carrying a gun. This individual claimed to have forgotten the fact he was openly carrying a gun which is a load of hot, steaming crap. You never forget your carrying. This individual was doing what he did to get the response he did from the police. He was challenging them to see if he could out smart them and get them to do something that would violate his right to carry. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. People like this should not have the right to carry if they are going to behave like children. Carrying a firearm is an adult responsibility, if you can't act like a mature adult while possessing a firearm than leave it at home.

2. The Officers. They were faced with an unfamiliar situation and were not versed on the actual law of open carry. When challenged, their pride got in the way of their duties as peace keepers. They should have explained why they stopped to talk with him and/or asked him to leave if he was causing a problem and left it at that..its a lesson Im sure they learned the hard way.

To those who choose to open carry. Know that although this is not illegal most of the public is not ready to see people, other than law enforcement, openly carrying a firearm in public. This will make most people concerned, uncomfortable and uneasy. As a result they will most likely contact the police to have us investigate and make sure everything is ok. If this happens, be an adult (unlike the above example) and help the Officers do their job so everyone can go on their way. We will make sure your not some wanted felon who is openly carrying a stolen firearm and politely remind you that you may be making someone feel uncomfortable.

imo open carrying is nothing more than asking for unwanted attention or in the case above by the cowboy someone trying to be a dick and make people feel uncomfortable... if a criminal is looking for someone to stick up and rob who better than a guy that they know has a gun that they can sneak up behind... it would be nice if the officers knew the laws but according to the instructors of the cpl class i took gun laws are amended every six months

When buying a car from a private seller, what is the grace period in which a car can be driven unregistered? Car is from michigan. The car will be insured, but will need to be driven if allowed in a legal manner. Also, if there is a grace period what paperwork should be kept in the car during this time? I've hearrd there is a 7 day grace period, but I've also heard it is only one day. Thanks.

I checked the web as I didn't know the answer off the top of my head. I believe you have 15 days from the time of sale to register the vehicle. You can drive the car from point of sale to home and/or home to SOS unregistered. Keep the title, insurance and any other paper work with you during your trip. Ill double check the grace period tomorrow at work.

Depends on the department.

When we had video tapes we kept them for 90 days before they were recycled.
When we had DVD's we also kept them for 90 day before they were recycled.
Now in the new digital age the files are kept a bit longer before they are deleted.

Now, in the case where an arrest is made it is our departments practice to log that video into evidence which it is then kept indefinitely. Mistakes can/will be made but I can't speak for other departments.
