Computer opinions welcomed : Future build

Below is my basic list of what I am going to build.
As of right now, only 2 things I am not really locked on about. The mother board choice and the SSD choice.
Depending on if I get the Intel 750 with NVMe or the samsung with M.2 will be a factor for either mother board. And then I have to take into account that asus worked with Intel on the NVMe to get the 750 to work like it does.
I am planning on waiting until black friday to scoop up as many deals as I can. But I could buy sooner depending on input from others.

That site is awesome. It finds the lowest prices on all the components you choose, really nice. I forget who, but somebody has 1TB Samsung SSDs on sale right now for a bit less than what that Intel 400GB costs. If you want to save a decent amount, check out the GTX 970, it's only 10% to 15% slower than the 980, but comes in at $200 less. Your list is missing the PSU, grab something from Seasonic, Corsair, Silverstone, or PC Power and Cooling, preferably 750W or greater, with a single +12V rail. Multiple 12V rails are better suited to lower powered systems. That Corsair water cooler is very nice, I run it on my i5 2500k, no issue pushing 5GHz whatsoever. Stock was 3.3GHz.

The SSD size is mainly due to the speeds. the interl 750 and the samsung run 2-4 times the throughput and almost quadruple the iops. Standard SSD 500~MB/s versus 2200~MB/s on the interl 750. Samsung is somewhere in between. Not sure I really need 1tb on the SSD, I have a NAS setup that I store things on. I have a corsair 750 currently, considering going to a 1000. But that really depends on other factors. I think the PSU I have has a single 12v rail. But not sure. been a while since I bought them.

As for the video card. I was planning on the 980 only to give me additional years before having to upgrade. I want this machine to last about 5 years before I need to even think about anything. Then only a video card at that point.

I have a Q9550 DDR2 rig that is only good for video streaming now. Can't run the new games without a new video card and even then, it's slow. Has a GTX 750 currently.

I also have an i5 machine witha GTX 750 and DDR3, and it's starting to have a hard time running F2P games. Which is sad. But both systems are over 8 years old. and until this year, they ran great. I think the OS upgrades are also taking a toll on the systems.

Yeah, I use part picker a lot. It uses amazon a ton. Thats kind of why I am waiting for black Friday. Going to catch the best savings I can. but on top line stuff.

I have a 1TB WD Black for my Windows install, and my 131 game Steam library fills it quick. I had to uninstall many of my less played games just to free up some space. A lot of newer games take up tons of space. For instance, GTAV takes 65GB. Remember back when games either came on a CD, DVD, or a few CDs?

65GB jesus. I remember games on 5.25 floppy discs. Zero lag! lol
There is a few I wish I could find because I thought they were the shit.
Some old conan games and D&D games. I have no idea what they are called though.

I think my total storage on disk is about 3TB with another 1TB burned to CD, DVD, and some BR discs.

My steam library has 4 games currently and I only play 2 of them. Marvel Heroes 2015 and Civ 5. No time for any other games. I can dedicate about 2-4 hours a week currently.

I don't play games as much as I used to, still once in awhile, but my ADHD has grown with age .

I feel ya there. Honestly, I would be happy with my wireless mouse and keyboard not having any lag. Damn things are jittery as hell and sometimes miss letters I type. Batteries are fully charged. And there is no pattern to when it happens. Sometimes it's perfect for days, then one day garbage.

Any recommendations on a wireless setup that doesn't have this type of issue? Or is it all based on my machines that are getting a little old?

Try and find a bluetooth mouse and keyboard combo, the ones I've had in the past always worked well. I think the issue with RF input devices is the interference they get from cell phones, wifi, and other devices that emit frequencies at the same band.

I have a feeling that it isn't my hardware then. I have a combo setup. But there is about 30 wifi systems within range of my place and everyone has a cell phone, so probably about a 100 or so of those within 200 feet of me. Ahh the joys of apartment living. Oddly, I had an app on my phone for a while called hippo or something. And it acted like a mouse and keyboard. Worked perfect over my wifi system. Wonder if I could get a mouse and keyboard to go through my wifi instead of a blue tooth adapter.
