Thats smoking fast, the limitation is in the wireless protcol, not your provider.
Wireless Dr.P
The wireless isn't the bottleneck. Heck I've done 40 down 73 up on my phone connected to WiFi. And I had my laptop screaming at 75+ and 50+ on our FiOS network in Providence using WiFi.Thats smoking fast, the limitation is in the wireless protcol, not your provider.

I can't imagine his wireless modem has a limit that low. That would be a pretty outdated system.
If he's paying for 40, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to get that via wifi.
I have BH tech coming today. Any specific questions I should be asking? Like modem speed etc?
Thanks
George
Even 10 mB is 80 mb.Some of the older routers don't support more than 10MB between the Internet side and the LAN side. Just ask him to make sure the router isn't limiting your speed.

Uhm yeah...
Oh no worries... Calling my comcast business rep right now... :icon_bigg
Seems my laptop has a A-G wireless card (?) The tech gave me an "N-150" usb thingy so now I have more speed. (it was free).
I'm going to see if I can get an N-150 thingy hard installed to my laptop. He also said they should have done this from the get go. I'm getting credits for a few months.
Nice guy, gr8 service. I can stop making the pipe bomb now.

Might cost a bit to get an internal N wifi card installed if G is what its replacing. Some N cards have 3 antennas, and a majority of G cards have 2. The antennas usually go around the LCD bezel. Youd have to take apart the monitor to install the 3rd antenna.
