Cell service opinion.

Hey guys. I pay for the cell service for myself, the wife, my Sis and niece. I've had sprint for years and being that my phone is my business, I need good service but also a decent price per month. Sprint service has gone down hill and the costs increase all the time. We average about 500 per month as I'm on my phone non stop. A manager from T Mobile reached out to me and offered a sweet deal. He said t mobile is close to Verizon in regards to service.

Need some true opinions. Is it any good, or total shit?

I have been doing my own individual Poll of sorts ever since I got Our T-Mobile service after switching from Sprint a little over a year ago. Sprint was horrible and T-Mobile is only a step up from Sprint IMO but ONLY when you are in the Populous Metro Detroit Area or burbs. Get out of ANY Populated areas and T-Mobile is the worst. Horrible service with no signal almost anywhere we go. Even Sprint is slightly better out of the normal areas.


Here are my Poll Results (Worst to Best)

T-Mobile = Best Prices but run if you use for your business
SPRINT
AT&T = Nobody I hear complains about AT&T as a whole but with me working at Ford not as good of Option in the Plants)
Verizon = Most expensive but best all around service (Again where I work Verizon service is Top Notch)

I have T-Mo, 7 lines with 3gb data each and I pay $169. I have no complaints with their service. Their LTE is pretty damn fast, and their signal is good as well. When I first got their service 4 years ago, it wasn't even 10% of what it is now. If you went 10 feet out of the city then, you'd lose your data. Now they even have good service in the boonies.

I get a good signal from here to Port Huron, also the central and northern portions of Oakland County. Much of it has to do with the phone you have. T-Mo only started selling the 700MHz band phones a year ago. My Moto X works with that band so I get a good signal. Much of their network runs in the 1700MHz/1800MHz and 1900MHz/2100MHz band. Higher frequency bands don't travel as long of a distance as lower frequency and don't penetrate buildings as well. T-Mobile now runs 700MHz/800MHz/900MHz band, which gets superior distance and building penetration in comparison to the other bands I mentioned above.

I have two phones one is verizon one is at&t. The at&t phone has great service and data everywhere in lower michigan ohio, indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, new york (my kids play hockey im all over the place). In the upper peninsula the at&t service sucks.

My verizon phone has great service and data in southern lower michigan, all of ohio, Illinois, Indiana, etc etc. the data however is a lot slower than my at&t phone. Verizon works in the UP but in the upper lower the cell service is good but the data is so slow its non existent.

The price is nearly identical for both.


My brother just switched from Sprint his service was horrible state wide.

Sorry. Forgot that my mom and dad are on there as of 2 months ago. mom also has a iPad. So, 6 line and 1 iPad 500-600 a month.

I just switched from AT&T, to sprint and my bill is half the price it was. I get a new phone every year.

and with AT&T I couldn't make a phone call from my house, now I can, yeah upnorth sprint doesn't seem as good.

a lot depends on where you live.

Keep in mind that you're more than likely going to have to buy everyone new phones when you switch away from Sprint.

Of my small group of friends who have recently dumped Sprint, the only ones who are truly happy with their new service are the ones who went to Verizon. The ones on T-Mobile say that it's better but not perfect. I'd go talk to someone at each store and price out what you need. If pricing is anywhere close, I'd go with Verizon. I've been with them for 15+ years and have no complaints.

I worked in Ford and Chrysler plants and my ATT is flawless.

I can't think of anywhere I do not have service. My friend here at the plant has VZ and he is always on 3G, whereas I get great 4G service.

It really depends on the area. I think with att and vz it is splitting hairs and comes down to geographics.

I haven't had t mobile for over ten years so i cant say from personal experience how it is. Sprint on the other hand I had not long ago and it's the same garbage it was when I had it in 2006.

T-mobile here, they just finished rolling out their new bands up in the thumb mid to late last year. Since then never have trouble with them, been up to Caseville, all parts of the thumb and have service.

Ive had sprint since they went into business.... and they suck.
At one time their customer service was outstanding.
Sprint works good @ home (Troy) & work (Warren) but works for shit everywhere I drive.... always loose internet.... gps maps NEVER works..... always quits working... never get a 4g signal.
Going to switch to Verizon as each phone contract runs out over the next several months/year.

Another possibility is just to buy an unlocked phone, then you can go with whatever service as long as the phone supports it. This will narrow your choices down to either a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Moto X Pure, Moto G, or any one of the newer iPhones. The beauty of that is if you know you're traveling to an area with spotty service, just grab a prepaid SIM from another carrier and forward your number to it, then you'll have service. Some phones support dual SIM cards and let you switch between carriers on the fly.

I had Nextel, somewhat worked, switched that to Sprint, didn't work much. After dealing with all that junk, I switched to Verizon and haven't had any issues to complain about.
Although, I'm sure you know that depending on where you are service may be better or worse. Anywhere that I've been though, I don't have any issues I can think of.
I did have a Tmobile SIM for a few months as well for overseas, but that didn't work so well for me here in my usual areas either.

I have had verizon for years. Long enough that we have unlimited data on 2 of our lines. 5gb on the other 2. Service and support are great. I have yet to not be able to make a phone call and I am all over the place for work. My only complaint with VZW is $350 a month for 4 lines! But then again I did use 61gb of data in January.
