So the dealer called you back to give you an additional $3000? That is sure what it looks like unless I misread something. That seems odd to me.

That's a good question. I have no clue what really happened on the dealer side. All I knew was that if my payment wasn't $400 or less with zero out of pocket or $350 or less with &1.5k out of pocket, I was going to walk away from the deal. They muddled around for a long while in the front offices and this is what they came back with.

guess I will have to wait another week or so to find out if something else is wrong. And I have no clue how the price dropped below what my Xplan could get me.

I am hoping this is the case. With the total amount financed just a little more than double what I owed on my trade in, I think this is an excellent deal since my payment from old to new is $185~ less per month. and I get a month and a half on no payments which allows me to pay down other bills

I had a similar issue with Suburban Chevrolet Cadillac in Ann Arbor on a lease. After about a week they told me the paperwork was awry and that I owed them another $40 a month for 24 months. I said "well, the $1,000 in dealer cash you got that you didn't use on the transaction more than covers it. If you want, I'll pay it and report you to GM for my own amusement. The contract I have with both of our signatures on it is binding." They didn't like the directness. I said "The six hours of mine you already pissed away for a one hour transaction already cost me half that. If you'd like to pay me for my time I'd be happy to come in and talk about it."

So two weeks later I found myself with a letter that they amended my lease with US Bank, forcing me to pay $395 at turn-in for the vehicle. Well, there was no signature on it so I ignored it. To be even more of an asshole, I leased the next vehicle from a place that doesn't do business with US Bank or that dealership and ducked out on the $395 turn-in fee so Suburban Chevrolet Cadillac in Ann Arbor got to eat that fee also. The sales manager at that dealer found it even more hilarious than I did. Funny part is that I leased the same identical vehicle again (just two years newer) with the same residuals and the same exact options for the exact same price... but a $60/month lower payment.

I'm a firm believer that it's either the sales side of a dealership or the service side of a dealership that keeps them profitable. It is rare to find a place that does both well. I am pretty sure it's not sales that keeps places like Suburban Chevrolet Cadillac in Ann Arbor afloat.

You would have saved yourself a lot of hassle if you just would have taken a weekend trip up here to do your transaction through Matt Stanford. He's one of the least shady car salesmen out there lol.

Another +1 for Matt Stanford if buying a Ford vehicle. About as easy as you can get. Their service department is great too (not that you would use their service department since you are in KY).

I hate to see people taken advantage of.
Financing through a dealer is a huge no no.
I realize this is easy for me to say, but if I bought a car and the dealer called me back several days later to renegotiate I would tell them to go fuck themselves.

x2 a buddy of mine saw a Malibu on the lot for sale loaded LTZ with the wrong tag, it was tagged as a base model. He ended up getting an amazing deal because they didn't realize it was loaded. They ended up figuring it out about 3 months later and tried to get him to pay an additional $5K. He just laughed at them.

So, end of the day, 1.5k out of pocket, dealer I am guessing gave up any possible gains on the trade or what ever and was able to make a deal. Previous finance amount was 23.5k new finance amount is 18.9k .
that includes full pay off of my trade in. New payment is lower than previous at 333/m

while I don't like coming off the cash, think in the end, this may be a much better deal as the finance amount is much lower.

Seems like the dealer screwed up, but helped to make it right. Good for them.

I've leased 3 Chevys from Ed Rinke and had great luck with them. Told them what i wanted and they emailed me when they had it. Had all the paper work ready when I arrived and in all 3 cases I'd say i averaged 45 min to 1 hour total time at the dealer.
