CD 'Exchange'

Anyone interested in a 1:1 CD exchange?

I'm tired of the CD's I have, and want to exchange them for others.

Any one interested?

Yep, but finding AAC 320 is nearly impossible ;)

of the 30k+ songs I have, 15k-ish are AAC320.

Best 'backup' is to do it yourself.

right, except for the F'd up id3 tags, the shit quality, and the overall lack of the stuff i'm looking for.

So, back to my original question, anyone interested in swapping CD's?

i'll swap cds, they aren't worth anything these days anyways. What are you looking for and what do you have?

Just about everything I have is from the late 90's, mostly rock & alternative.

I have about 150, but none of the jewel cases.

Tomorrow, i'll get a 'list' together.

Which side of town you on?

what kind of music do you have, and what are you looking for? an old friend of mine was a dj and i copied most of his collection over the course of a few months so i have a pretty massive collection.

Download FLAC...the best lossless audio codec. If you have the right programs, you can get all the proper ID3 tags and convert to any file format you like.

X2. Mediamonkey is a good one for getting the tags straightened out, and Foobar2000 with the LAME codec will convert to high-quality mp3 files.

Just watch out for transcodes (lower bitrate file converted into a higher bitrate file, it's impossible to "add" quality). The unfortunate part of this is that the only way to check is to run it through a sound editor program and look at the waveform. These are somewhat common on public sites. Private sites forbid this, and thus are they way to go if you don't mind maintaining a high upload ratio.

These are all fairly common knowledge items.

I just dont want to waste time dowloading the same torrent 4 times, renamed, and shitty quality with 'encoded by xxDEMONxx' in the comments.

I find its just way easier, and much more efficent, to 'back up' CD's.

I rip everything at AAC320, it maintains any 'surround' encoding on the disc, and sounds phenominal.

I cannot discern which rips from my collection are my cd's and which are coworkers. We maintain a 'shared' backup server. Would hate for something to happen to our individual drives.

If anyone wants to meet up, I work in Auburn hills (59/squirrel) and live in roseville. I'd be willing to bring cd's by, and you could take a look at what I have, and swap if you see some you want.

This was just an idea I had, since most people have a ton of CD's they dont really use any more.

Join a private site and you won't have this problem. There are some invite-only sites out there that are run very well. You have your pick of what file format, what bitrate, etc., and you're virtually guaranteed for it to be perfect in every aspect you describe. Basically, you get banned if you upload something that doesn't conform to their stringent rules, and most people value their membership.

I had a demonoid login a year or so ago, but the site went down, and havent tried loggin on since.

maybe i'll try to figure out what my login was, and see how that goes.

if you want a new Demonoid account, I have invites. As for converting files...since I run Linux I use Sound Converter with LAME if I want mp3s...and I run mp3tag under Wine to tag all of my music. It does batch tagging and gets all of its tags from Discogs .

I have approx 130 gb of music over 3000 artist's and over 100000 songs
let me know if someone wants to exchange

we will just say I dont have a problem finding a song or 2 I like
