Camaro outsells Mustang

Yeah it's like running up your credit cards and then filing BK. Fuck it let everyone that pays their bills deal with higher interest rates and reduced credit availablity. So much for doing the "right thing" :thumbsup:
Consumers have taken note and are trying to keep the odd man out from a BK as well. How have your March sales been so far compared to last year? I heard grumblings that we may come out huuuge


oh and GM, last I heard 142,006 vehicles in a month is still more than 141,535

An important stat no doubt, but off topic. Stats that are relevant to this thread:

- Camaro beats Mustang in yearly sales with 8 months production.
- Camaro plant adds a shift, Mustang plant drops a shift.

Maybe you should start a GM bashing thread, since that seems to be all you are doing in this one.

You can thank the Mazda6 for the dropped shift. Mustang numbers are up and its hard to fault Ford for being able to build cars faster than GM. We can get the same amount done with less shifts...which means we make more money per hour, durrrrrrrrrr
 
Hey Ford guys, do you know how stupid the GM loyalist sound every time they have to bash Ford as soon as they have any opportunity? It goes both ways.
 
i think just to screw with us, ford mustangs Chevy camaros dodge challengers and chargers should only be available with a 4 cylinder from all the recalled toyotas for the next 2 years.
 
I see more v6 Mustangs out there.

5th gen Camaro and 05-09 Mustang GT > 2010+ Mustangs. At first I liked the new mustang, but there is something about it that I dislike. Definitely looking forward to the 5 liter, though.

The fact that Ford outsold GM last month is a pertinant fact to the discussion, as it shows that by Camaro outselling the Mustang, Camaro is now becoming a more substantial portion of GM sales. It was axed the first time because it became an almost nonexistant portion not worth putting the money into.
 
Thats how it usually is with Camaros and Mustangs. The v-6 sales carry the entire line, but it seems like the new Camaros, almost everyone I see is a v-8.
Correct. With the 2010 Camaro, more V8 cars have been sold than V6 cars so far, those numbers will more than likely revert once the 'new' factor wears off a little. Maybe after the Convertible comes out later this year, we'll see.

This is easy. Fords fleet mix was ~40% and incentives through the roof buying the share. Ford went the way of chrysler to buy those numbers, it comes back to haunt you in residual values later on, two fold when you do both in a month.

Really? That's funny I didn't see "through the roof incentives", but I guess I wouldn't know.

Let's face it, Ford is building a better product in three areas:

1. Safety
2. Quality
3. Fuel Economy

The public has noticed this and has responded by purchasing the product. Factor in the people upset about the bailout Chrysler and GM took, the Toyota recalls and the numbers work in Fords favor.

That is total bullshit. Ford was definitely NOT buying the share. That's just a convenient excuse because GM is losing a game for volume Ford isn't even playing. Give me the numbers on total incentives for both Ford and GM last month.

So much for that theory. Looks like GM, as usual, still has the highest incentive spending per car. Hmm, Ford has the lowest.

The industry uses JD Power PIN Data. Autodata, Edmunds and those others are not accurate.

No, Ford is doin well, no doubt. They had the foresight to borrow money before the crash, and that was smart. Now they are reaping the gains from Toyotas loss, not as much as Honda, but the most of any D3. A % of consumers are pissed at GM and Chrysler for the gov. loans. Not much can be done about it, and I can see there pt.

GM looks like they did worse last month, but phasin out/winding down the noncore brands hurt. Going forward, GM and Ford should be close in Total and Retail sales now that GM doesnt have a gazillion brands.
